FLORENCE (ITA, May 9): Leonardo Fabbri won the shot put with 21.43 over Zane Weir (20.24) at the International Pegaso Meeting (WACT Challenger). Successful outdoor track opener for Nadia Battocletti, who won the 1500n in 4:03.75. South Africa’s Zakithi Nene topped the 400m in 44.44, and Louis Francois Mendy of Senegal the 110m hurdles in 13.37 (nwi). Spain’s David Barroso won the 800m in 1:44.56, with Alessandro Casoni finishing fourth (1:46.59 U20NR). Ronal Longa of Colombia clocked 10.04 (-0.7) to win the 100m from Cuba’s Jenns Fernandez (10.20) and Akani Simbine of South Africa (10.28). British wins by Amy Hunt 11.17 (-1.5) in the 100m and Jemma Reekie 2:01.26 in the 800m. Italy U20 clocked 39.87 in the 4x100m relay.
