LAUSANNE (SUI, Aug 21): 51st Athletissima Lausanne Wanda Diamond League featured five meeting records, including home win by Audrey Werro (1:55.33), and Mondo Duplantis yesterday. A sold-out stadium also witnessed a great atmosphere, with three fresh European champions who managed to win (Werro, Zapletalová and Tentoglou), as well as the first-ever DL win for Kayla White (200m). Very fast hurdles by Masai Russell in colder weather later in the evening. Women
200m (Diamond+ event) – Kayla White’s first-ever DL win in 22.18 (0.3) over Amy Hunt (22.32), Shericka Jackson injured and did not finish; spot in the DL Final also remained for Gabby Thomas.
800m (D+) – Audrey Werro won in a meeting record of 1:55.33, after a super-fast-paced first lap (54.64), fighting with accelerating Femke Broeders-Bol (1:55.41 NR) and 18-year-old Ethiopian Saida Tsehaye (1:56.92 U20WL/NR).

3000m steeplechase – Despite the fact that elite runners did not accept the set pace, Winfred Yavi set a new MR of 9:00.04, clearly ahead of Faith Cherotich (9:01.90), PB for fifth Lexy Halladay (9:08.35).
100m hurdles (D+) – Meeting record of 12.27 (-0.2) for Masai Russell over Nadine Visser (12.42).
400m hurdles – Emma Zapletalová, dominant this season, fifth DL win in her second best ever of 52.41 ahead of Anna Cockrell (53.15) and Belgium’s Paulien Couckuyt (53.28 NR).
Pole vault (D+) – First-ever DL win for Hana Moll, who cleared outdoor best of 484 on third attempt (did not continue higher), and took the victory from Angelica Moser (474), Nina Kennedy DNS, injury after warm-up.
Javelin – Haruka Kitaguchi is back in good shape, winning in a season best of 64.90 ahead of Flor Ruiz Hurtado (64.29) and Adriana Vilagoš (62.28); spots also for Sigrid Borge and Anete Sietina.
Men
200m (D+) – Convincing victory for Letsile Tebogo in 19.87 (-0.3) ahead of Sinesipho Dambile (19.98).
800m (D+) – Emmanuel Wanyonyi’s first DL 800m win this season in 1:42.19 (after first lap paced in 48.86) ahead of Djamel Sedjati (1:42.31 SB), however it was not enough for Algerian to earn a DL Final spot, but it remained for Mark English.
5000m – Birhanu Balew used his experience and clearly won in 12:57.55 ahead of Parker Wolfe (12:58.20).
110m hurdles (non-DL) – Another win for Jamal Britt in 13.13 (-0.5) over Kendry Menéndez (13.20), Ja’Kobe Tharp clattered a hurdle and finished last, but on health side he is ok.
400m hurdles (non-DL) – New meeting record of 46.67 by Rai Benjamin (his only hurdles race of the year) over European medalist Ismail Nezir (48.08 PB).
Long jump – Miltiadis Tentoglou won with 824w (2.1) ahead of Simon Ehammer (813/1.3) and 20-year-old Serbian Luka Bošković (807/0.5) in his first ever DL appearance.
Triple jump (D+) – Dramatic finish in final series, Pedro Pichado maintained the lead with 17.44 (-1.0) ahead of Yasser Triki, who improved to 17.43w (2.7) in sixth attempt; spots also for Lázaro Martínez and Jaydon Hibbert.
Javelin (D+) – Rumesh Pathirage showed his shape when immediately responded with 88.14 to Neeraj Chopra’s season best of 88.05.
