LIVERPOOL (GBR): Strong fields will headline the senior races at the Liverpool Cross Challenge on 22 November, the trial race for the SPAR European Cross Country Championships. The senior women’s race includes last year’s European U23 cross country champion Phoebe Anderson against Abbie Donnelly and Jessica Warner-Judd along with last year’s winner Kate Axford. The senior men’s race features brothers Zakariya and Mahamed Mahamed, twins Charles and George Wheeler and Rory Leonard. Former Olympic 5000m finalist Andrew Butchart is also on the entry-list. Innes FitzGerald is due to compete in the U20 women’s race.
DERRY (IRL): European 10,000m Cup winner Efrem Gidey and three-time European cross country medallist Nick Griggs headline the entries for Sunday’s (23) Irish Cross Country Championships in Derry. The women’s race features Niamh Allen, who placed 10th in the senior women’s race at the Antalya 2024 SPAR European Cross Country Championships, and Eimear Maher, the 1500m bronze medallist at the Bergen 2025 European U23 Championships. COPENHAGEN (DEN): Denmark has announced its team for the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Lagoa on 14 December. The standout names on the team include European U23 10,000m champion Joel Ibler Lilleso and last year’s European U20 cross country bronze medallist Sofia Thogersen. Both athletes will compete in the U23 race. Former two-time European U23 cross country champion Anna Emilie Moller has been named on the senior women’s team.
KYIV (UKR): Ukraine has announced their team for the SPAR European Cross Country Championships. The team includes Andriy Atamaniuk who recently won the Balkan cross country title. Ukraine will be fielding athletes in all six individual events and also the mixed relay.
