Jess Warner-Judd competes for HOKA running and her federation is British Athletics. Jess has competed for Team GBR since 2011 as a junior, moving up from the 800 meters to the 1,500 meters, then, the 10,000m and 5,000 meters, and now the marathon. Stuart Weir, RunBlogRun’s Senior Writer for UK/Europe specializes in these wonderfully woven stories on inspiring athletes.

We updated all the stories with new photos, featuring the work of Aisha McAdams, with a shout out to HOKA Running, who came to our aid, as we looked for photos of Jess competing in her first marathon.

In her first marathon, on November 2, 2025, Jess Warner-Judd became the number 9 on the British All time marathon list, with her 2:24:45, in her debut, finished just two seconds behind Sifan Hassan, 2024 Olympic marathon champion. Sifan finished sixth in NYC, and Jess Warner-Judd was seventh overall woman.

It should be noted that Jess Warner-Judd (like Sifan) is one of a few elite athletes who have been world class from 800 meters to the marathon.

Enjoy Stuart Weir’s story-telling.

I believe, with these stories, Stuart Weir has now written over one million words for RunBlogRun in his decade of writing for us. We are forever grateful, and you, dear and devoted readers, have the pleasure of reading Stuart’s word pictures.
