Competition Information
Entry lists will be posted HERE. Heat sheets will be sent out to all participants via athletic.net on Tuesday, June 16th.
Event Schedule: During the competition, no public announcements or event calls will be made. Athletes and coaches are responsible for knowing the event schedule.
Communication: Throughout the competition, there are two ways to connect with Meet Management:
- The Solutions Desk is located at packet pickup.
- The Nike Outdoor Nationals channel on the BAND App.
Spike Policy
- All athletes must use only pyramid spikes that are no longer than 1/4-inch (7mm) in length, except for high jump and javelin, where 3/8-inch (9mm) or lesser spikes may be used.
- Replacement spikes will be available for sale in the retail area.
- Only athletic shoes approved by USATF/World Athletics will be allowed in competition. World Athletics has provided a shoe checker link for approved shoes, available HERE.
Warm-Up
- Athletes may warm up on the warm-up track or outside the venue. Be sure to bring your bib with you if exiting the venue.
- The facility will be open for practice hours on Wednesday afternoon, from 2:00-7:00pm
Athlete Check-In/Clerking
- Event Order: Girls will compete first, followed by boys. Heat assignments are based on performance lists, with the “fastest” heat running last. In trials, heats will be randomized in accordance with USATF rules.
- Check-In Time: All athletes must report to the clerking area at least 30 minutes before their heat/flight. Be sure to check the schedule for your exact call time assigned to your heat/flight. The clerking area is located at the call room. Please see the facility map.
- Personal Items: For safety and security, do not leave personal items unattended in the clerking or warm-up areas. Please leave them with a teammate/family member/coach.
- Championship, Middle School, and U20 athletes on the oval are permitted to bring ONE small bag with them to call room 2. Our basket crew will transport your item to the recovery area in the tunnel by the conclusion of your event. Emerging Elite athletes should arrive at the clerking tent race-ready.

Lane Assignments & Preferences
- 100m, 110m/110m Hurdles: Lane assignment is 6-7-5-8-4-9-3-2-1.
- 200m, 400m, 4x100m, 4x200m, 4x400m, SMR: Lane assignment is 8-7-9-5-6-4-3-2-1.
- 800m, Mile, 2Mile, 5,000, 4×800, 4xMile, DMR: Lane assignments are random.
Starting Blocks
- Usage: Starting blocks must be used in events of 400 meters or less. Athletes must start in a “down” position.
- Starting blocks will be provided on-site at Hayward Field.
False Start
- Rule: One false start results in the disqualification of the offending athlete, as per USATF rules.
Hurdles
- Height: Boys’ hurdles will be set at 39 inches, while girls’ hurdles will be set at 33 inches.
Relays
- Stagger:
- 4x100m and 4x200m: Four-turn stagger (Lanes throughout).
- SMR and 4x400m: Three-turn stagger.
- 4x800m, DMR, 4xMile: One-turn stagger.
- Exchange Zone: The 4 x 100-meter relay will use the 30-meter exchange zone; a 20-meter exchange zone will be used for all other relays.

Mixed 4×100 Relay: The order will be girl, girl, boy, boy

Mixed 4×400 Relay: The order will be boy, girl, boy, girl
Relay Batons
- Meet management will provide batons for the relays at the clerking-in call room 2.
Relay Cards
- Submission: Coaches must complete relay cards and submit them to the clerk at least 60 minutes before each relay’s scheduled start. Relay cards are available at the packet pickup area and at the clerking table.
Field Events Policies and Procedures
Check-In/Clerking
- Field event athletes must check in at the event site at least 30 minutes prior to the event.
- Flight Assignment: Based on the performance list; the best flight goes last. Random assignments within the flight per USATF rules.
- Attempt Time: There is a 60-second limit per attempt for all field events per USATF rules.
Throwing Implements
- Inspection: Conducted on the fields at the clerking/inspection tent according to the schedule below. Reference point 8 on the facility map.
- Wednesday, June 17: 2:00pm-7:00pm
- Thursday-Monday: Beginning 2 hours before the start of the first throw event and will be open until the last throw event finishes.

- Weights:
- Men’s shot put: 12 lb
- Women’s shot put: 4 kg
- Boys (middle school) shot put: 4kg
- Girls(middle school) shot put: 4kg
- Men’s hammer: 12lb
- Women’s hammer: 4kg
- Men’s javelin: 800g
- Women’s javelin: 600g
- Sector: The throwing sector is 34.92 degrees.
- Implementation Use: All throwing implements are available to any athlete in the competition.
Vertical Progression

Competition
- There is no on-field coaches’ box for any field event.
- Prior to the warm-up period, athletes may be assisted in carrying poles onto the field of play.
- Pole vault coaches will be cleared from the infield prior to the start of the competition per the officials’ direction.
Awards
- Medals: Awarded to the top eight places in the championship division and to the top six in all other divisions.
- Championship Necklaces: Awarded to each winner in the Championship division, including relay teams.
- All-American Recognition: The top eight in the Championship division will be named NSAF First Team All-American and receive All-American tees and certificates. Players 9-16 will be named second-team All-Americans. All athletes earning All-American honors will have access to the All-American Shop.
- Other Awards: Emerging Elite, Freshman, Middle School, and Club division awards will be distributed at the awards table. There will be no formal awards ceremony.
Athlete Gift
- All competing athletes receive a commemorative Nike backpack.
