The Athletissima meet is held at the Stade de Pontaise in Lausanne, Switzerland, the home of the International Olympic Committee. The stadium is a wonderful venue, with great views from around the stadium and a temporary media setup that offers media a clear view of the competition.
The meet sells out months in advance, as it is a national event in Switzerland. Swiss fans love their athletes, and this week, they treasured Audrey Werro leading the world at the 800 meters!
Here’s our performance report for the U.S. athletes:
- Men’s 200 meters: Won by Letsile Tebogo in 19.87. Courtney Lindsey, US, was 7th at 20.61, and Brandon Hicklin, US, was 8th at 20.67.
- Men’s 800 meters: In a really exciting race that came down to the last 50 meters, Emmanuel Wanyonyi, the Olympic champion, won in 1:42.19. Brandon Miller took third in 1:42.55, a solid run!
- Men’s 5000 meters: Three Americans in the top 4! Parker Wolfe, US, continued his exciting racing over 5000 meters, taking second in 12:58.20. Nico Young, US, coming back from a month of injuries, took third in 12:58.33, and Graham Blanks, US, was 4th in 12:59.16. Two-time Olympic bronze medalist Grant Fisher was 11th in 13:07.74, just not looking like he was ready to race.
- Men’s 110m hurdles (Promotional), Jamal Britt, US, took the win in 13.13, with Ja’Kobe Tharp, US, WR holder, in 8th place in 14.38 (looks like he hit a hurdle).
- Men’s 400-meter hurdles: Rai Benjamin, US, took the win here, as the US hurdler, in his only hurdle race of 2026, won in 46.67, the second-best time in the world! Rai focused on his 400m racing this year, getting down to 44.05 at London.
- Men’s Pole Vault: Two men over 6.15m! Mondo Duplantis cleared 6.21m, and Emmanouiel Karalis cleared 6.16m. Chris Nilsen, US, cleared 5.91m, taking fifth place. Zachery Bradford, US, took 7th place at 5.81m, tying with Sam Kendricks, US. KC Lightfoot, US, was ninth at 5.81 m.
- Men’s Triple Jump: Russell Robinson, US, was 4th place in 16.93m. A very deep TJ, with Pedro Pichardo taking the win in 17.44m, and Yasser Triki, who came oh so close, 17.43m!
- Men’s Javelin: Amazing! Neeraj throws 88.05m, and Rumrish Pathirage responds with 88.14m. Marc Anthony Minichello, US, was fifth in 80.06m. Curtis Thompson, US, threw 78.13m for sixth.
Women’s events:
- Women’s 200 meters: Kayla White, US, won her first Diamond League race, winning the furlong in 22.18. Anavia Battle, US, was 4th in 22.65!
- 800 meters Promotional: Won by Raevyn Rogers, US, in 1:59.77.
- 800m Diamond League: Audrey Werro, SUI, won in 1:55.33, with Femke Bol, NED, oh so damn close in 1:55.41 NR. Addison Wiley, US, was sixth in 1:59.22, and Sage Hurta-Klecker, US in 2:02.78, in 10th place.
- 100m hurdles: Masai Russell wins 10th race of 2026, with 12.27. Alaysha Johnson, US, was third in 12.49, and Rayniah Jones was 4th in 12.57!
- 400m hurdles: Emma Zapletalova wins her 5th DL with her number 2 time of 52.41. Anna Cockrell of the US was second at 53.15. Jasmine Jones,US, Tokyo bronze medalist, was sixth in 54.45.
- 3,000m Steeplechase: Winifred Yavi willed herself to a MR 9:00.04. Lexy Halladay, US, not focused on time, sets a PB of 9:08.35 for fifth place. Gabby Jennings, US, was seventh in 9:15.29. Courtney Wayment, US, in 11th place in 9:32.03. Angelina Ellis, US, was 14th in 9:36.60.
- Pole Vault: Hana Moll, US, wins PV in 4.84m! Katie Moon, US, Olympic champion, 3x World champion, is third in 4.64m, first competition back from injury. Sandi Morris, US, USATF 2026 champ, was 4th in 4.64m, and Emily Grove, US, 9th, in 4.50m.
