BRESCIA (ITA, Aug 30): Rajindra Campbell produced three throws over 22 meters, including a Jamaican record of 22.59m in the shot put, for victory over double European champion Leonardo Fabbri with 21.99m at the Grand Prix Brescia (WACT Silver). A capacity crowd of 3000 saw Nigeria’s Favor Ofili winning the women’s 200m in a fast 22.03 (0.0), and Jamaica’s Nickisha Pryce won a high-quality women’s 400m in 49.27 ahead of Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser, who was given the same time, with Jamaica’s Stacey-Ann Williams (49.92) and Natalia Bukowiecka (50.13) third and fourth respectively. 19-year-old Leendert Koekemoer took his biggest win so far with victory in the men’s 400m in a 44.52 U20NR ahead of European bronze medallist Jonas Phijffers (44.61) with Letsile Tebogo eighth in 45.34 in his first 400m since April.

Former world record-holder Dalilah Muhammad ran a season’s best of 53.36 to win the women’s 400m hurdles ahead of Panama’s Gianna Woodruff (53.76), and there was a surprise in the 110m hurdles with 20-year-old Bradley Franklin winning in 13.10 (-1.5) ahead of Cordell Tinch (13.25) and Jamal Britt (13.29).

Other highlights included wins for quadruple European champion Amy Hunt (11.06/0.7) and South Africa’s Bayanda Walaza (10.00/-0.2) in the women’s and men’s 100m, respectively, and 2019 world champion Deanna Price and European champion Bence Halasz taking the wins in the women’s and men’s hammer with 74.50m and 80.67m, respectively.

Also Tobi Amusan 12.56 (-1.7) in the 100m hurdles, Yusuf Bizimana 1:44.02 PB and Shafiqua Maloney 1:58.03 over Sophie O’Sullivan (1:58.60 PB) in the 800m, Adam Spencer 3:32.32 (1500m), Kelvin Kiplagat 7:34.80 ahead of World U20 5000m champion Frankline Kibet (7:35.11 PB) in the 3000m, and Thea LaFond 14.50 (-1.6) in the triple jump.
