KINGSTON (JAM, May 20): Top result of Jamaica International Invitational before 20 000 spectators was the sub 10 win of Yohan Blake with 9.93 (+0.4) 100 m win ahead of US Ronnie Baker 9.98 PB and Mike Rodgers 10.02. Surprise quality in men 400 m hurdles as last year U20 World medalist Kyron McMaster continued in his improvement with 47.80 national record for British Virgin Islands and World lead. Behind him Jamaican talent Jaheel Hyde 48.52 PB with older generation beaten Bershawn Jackson 48.63 and Javier Culson 48.76. Olympic winner Elaine Thompson dominated the 200 m in 22.09 (+0.5) and equaled the World lead. 400 m specialist Shericka Jackson was 2nd 22.61. Close 100 m winner Morolake Akinosun 11.06 (+0.1) over Michelle-Lee Ahye 11.06 and Olympic winner Allyson Felix who opened with fast 11.07. Highly anticipated 400 m had Novlene Williams-Mills winning in 50.54 ahead of two US runners Phyllis Francis 50.66 and Natasha Hastings 51.20. Another top clash in 200 m was won by Canadian star Andre De Grasse 20.14 (+1.2) over LaShawn Merritt 20.28 and Zharnel Hughes 20.29. Demish Gayle confirmed who is currently number one in Jamaican 400 m camp with 45.08 beating Kevin Borlee 45.52. High hurdles were also fast with Aleec Harris 13.22 (+0.3) ahead of Devon Allen 13.28 and Sharika Nelvis 12.64 (-0.2) beating Jasmin Stowers 12.68 and World champion Danielle Williams 12.78. Olympic winner Caterine Ibarguen opened with a win 14.43 (+0.2) in triple jump, Canadian Liz Gleadle won javelin 60.79 a Levern Spencer 190 high jump. In men technical events high quality 580 by Sam Kendricks in pole vault and 66.36 by Fedrick Dacres in discus. Distances Australian Jack Rayner 7:52.70 PB in the 3000 m, US Charlene Lipsey 2:01.09 in the 800 m and Jamaican record holder Aisha Praught 9:31.85 in steeple.
