Mariya Lasitskene had an amazing 2017. This was one of my favorite events in 2017, and the Athlettissima meeting was pretty exciting. From the pole vault with Sam Kendricks, Mondo Duplantis and Renaud Lavillenie, to fine middle distance races, to the women’s high jump. Lasitskene showed her amazing talent for those fans who were glued to the event!
Lausanne 2017 will be remembered for many track and field events. At the very end of the evening, no one was leaving, after the Swiss 4×100 meters set a national record, only the high jump and pole vault were being conducted.

On one end, three vaulters were competing for the win: Kendricks, Lavillenie, Wojciewski were battling. On the other end of the track, Mariya Lasitskene was in her zen place. Lasitskane was made to high jump. When she begins her run, she clicks her on switch and runs to the bar, then, wills herself over the bar. The 2.06 meter clearance was amazingly precise and dominating. This was not Mariya’s 14th straight win, as I had noted earlier, it was her 18th consecutive win, as EME News noted.
Her 2.10 meter attempts were good attempts. From trying, Lasitskene will learn what to do, and the 2.10m will be like Climbing Mount Everest. Or, like breaking a four minute mile.
How do we put limits on ourselves. Mariya Lasistskene does not see limits like other humans do, or she would not have cleared 2.06 meters.
