We are posting a few of our past season’s cross country racing shoes, as this coming weekend is huge for cross country sales. The four shoes that we are posting today are great shoes for the 550,000 high school boys and girls about to race this coming 2018-19 season. We will also post new shoe reviews shortly.

This is the review of the Brooks Mach 18 Spikeless, a fine cross country shoe from Brooks. Cregg Weinmann has reviewed footwear and apparel for California Track & Running News since the mid 1990s, and for the RunningNetwork since 1998. If you would like to see this review on Running Product Reviews, please go to: Brooks Mach 18 Spikeless. At RunBlogRun, our goal is help you find the perfect shoe for you. Our suggestions: always visit your local running stores at end of day, take a clean pair of running socks, and try on five to six different brands, and jog around in them. Real running stores allow you to check the right show for you. For more reviews, go to www.runningproductreviews.com.

Brooks Mach 18 Spikeless, $90
Brooks’ Mach series of cross country racing shoes have provided excellent cross country performance, whether in spiked or spikeless models. Version number 18 is as good a product as any previous round.
The closed mesh upper hugs the foot closely, printed overlays unobtrusively providing support with minimal added weight. The midsole maintains its slender, full-length foam wedge for just enough protective cushioning underfoot. The outersole is the same diamond-shaped carbon rubber lugs in the forefoot, this spikeless version minus the 5-spike plate, allowing the versatility of efficiently managing groomed courses, trail, track or roads. The heel is completed with a crescent of sharkskin for added traction. While minimally updated, the verdict is that it’s enough.
UPDATED
Sizes: Men 6-13,14,15; Women 6-12
Weight: Men 5.2 oz. (size 11); Women 4.2 oz. (size 8)
Fit: snug heel, very close forefoot
