We are posting a few of our past season’s cross country racing shoes, as this coming weekend is huge for cross country sales. The four shoes that we are posting today are great shoes for the 550,000 high school boys and girls about to race this coming 2018-19 season. We will also post new shoe reviews shortly.

This is the review of the New Balance XC 900 version 4, a fine cross country shoe from New Balance. Cregg Weinmann has reviewed footwear and apparel for California Track & Running News since the mid 1990s, and for the RunningNetwork since 1998. If you would like to see this review on Running Product Reviews, please go to: New Balance XC 900 version 4. At RunBlogRun, our goal is help you find the perfect shoe for you. Our suggestions: always visit your local running stores at end of day, take a clean pair of running socks, and try on five to six different brands, and jog around in them. Real running stores allow you to check the right show for you. For more reviews, go to www.runningproductreviews.com.

New Balance XC 900v4, $90
The XC 900 has been New Balance’s top tier cross country racer. It has been a nice upgrade for the high school or collegiate harrier – sleeker material than entry level without breaking the bank, and round 4 is a top down revamp.
The upper is a closed stretch mesh with thin, fused overlays supporting a very light upper. The midsole is a redesigned RevLite foam, low profile and protective with plenty of flexibility. The outersole is textured rubber over most of the sole, with toughened foam where possible, as lightness is the objective in a racer. A six spike setup adds traction to the spiked version, rubber nibs give the spikeless version more versatility on hard packed or paved courses. The sharp design and attention to detail makes the XC900 hard to beat.
