Sydney McLaughlin is on the cusp of global athletic stardom. With the Toyota USATF Outdoors this weekend, Sydney will be racing in the 400m semi final (4:09 PM on Saturday, July 27) and a final on Sunday (7:04 PM).

Right now, Sydney owns the WL in the 400m hurdles at 53.32. Her 54.17 win in her opener had her hit the first hurdle, and catch the Olympic champion in the final stretch.

Just how good is she?

Well, check out our podcast below, finished just in time for Des Moines. One keen observer noted this: “Sydney McLaughlin is the finest women’s athlete talent at both the 400m and 400m hurdles. She should decimate the 400m hurdle record. ” Another, NBC announcer Ato Boldon noted her amazing fitness and how more fit she looks each and every time that she races.

Watch Sydney McLaughlin this weekend. She’s a prime example of the amazing new generation of USATF athletes we will see in Des Moines.
