Stuart Weir has been one busy British journalist. This is his 100th plus piece in 2020. His love of athletics is evident, and we are the lucky recipients of his column.

Hanžeković Memorial in Zagreb

There were a number of excellent performances in the Hanžeković Memorial in Zagreb, Croatia. The men’s 800 was the race of the evening resulting in British 1-2-3. Daniel Rowden ran a PR of 1:44.09 to beat Elliot Giles (1:44.75) with Jake Wightman third in 1:44.85 with Bryce Hoppel (1:44.95) fourth.

Rowden said afterwards: “It was a great field. To come out on top was incredible and to run a PR even better. The atmosphere, even with a few people here, was great. The organization has been great and the track amazing”.

Wilhelm won the Boris Hanžeković Memorial 110m hurdles race in 13.32 from Freddie Crittenden (13.34) with all three podium athletes getting enormous trophies

Stewart McSweyn (Australia) took the 1500 in 3:32.17 with eight runners behind him running PRs.

In the men’s 100 Michael Rodgers just held off Arthur Cisse by three hundredths of a second.

Payton Chadwick took the 100 metres hurdles from Cindy Ofili 13.01 to 13.10.

Yulia Levchenko, Erika Kinsey and Nicola McDermott all had perfect records to 1.90 but only Levchenko managed 1.93 for the win. Local hero, Sandra Perkovic took the discus with 64.67.
