ZAGREB (CRO, Sep 15): At the 70th Boris Hanzekovic Memorial (WACT Gold), world champion Daniel Stahl returned to winning ways in a high quality discus with 68.87 MR ahead of European champion Andrius Gudzius’ 68.22m while Sandra Perkovic made a winning return to competition in her first event since March, throwing 64.67m in the women’s discus ahead of Melina Robert-Michon with 60.65m. Fast middle distance action also highlighted Zagreb: Daniel Rowden won the 800m in a European lead and lifetime best of 1:44.09 (missed MR by 0.01), leading a British 1-2-3 from Elliot Giles (1:44.75) and Jake Wightman (1:44.85) with world finalist Bryce Hoppel fourth in 1:44.95.

Australia’s Stewart McSweyn dominated the men’s 1500m in 3:32.17 while there were PBs for Brit James West (3:34.56), Australia’s Matthew Ramdsen (3:34.83) and Serbia’s Elzan Bibic (3:35.07) in second, third and fourth respectively. In the sprint hurdles, United States’ Payton Chadwick won the 100m hurdles in 13.01 to Cindi Ofili’s 13.10 and France’s in-form Wilhem Belocian won the memorial 110m hurdles in 13.32 from Freddie Crittenden in 13.34. In the sprints, there was a US double for Mike Rodgers (10.16, over Arthur Cisse 10.19) and Kayla White (11.44) and Slovenia’s Luka Janezic won the national 400m in 45.93. Sweden’s Khaddi Sagnia equalled her outright lifetime best of 6.92m in the long jump and Ukraine’s Yuliya Levchenko cleared 1.93m in the high jump.
