The Olympics were moved to 2021 some time ago. The Tokyo Olympics is still in question to many. How can an Olympics be held when there is no vaccine? How does one go about putting 10,000 athletes, and 10,000 media in close quarters, with no vaccine and then allow an audience into all events?
The LOC is testing procedures to see how the Olympics can be held in the current pandemic.
We remain cautiously optimistic.
Covid measures tested
TOKYO (JPN): Coronavirus countermeasures are being tested this weekend in Japan in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics with a 32,000-seater stadium in Yokohama being filled to eighty percent capacity for a baseball match, informs insidethegames.biz. With the Japanese Government currently allowing stadiums to operate at 50 per cent capacity, the aim of the three-day experiment is to see whether it is possible to safely fill a venue with spectators during the COVID-19 pandemic. According to a report by Channel News Asia, dozens of high-resolution cameras and sensors have been installed across the stadium to monitor mask-wearing and the movement of fans. Carbon dioxide-monitoring devices and wind-speed measuring machines are also being used as part of COVID-19 countermeasures.
