Well, I arrived in Doha, Qatar after about twenty-two hours of real travel. Customs took a while, but WIC volunteers got us to the bus and on to our hotel. It is about 2 am local time in Doha, as I write this! Meet begins Friday about nine in the morning!

Standards
After Technical Meeting the qualification standards for technical events are known. In all 10 events they are made to make sure that no more than 8 athletes will qualify. Men´s high jump 231, pole vault 575, long jump 800 are pretty tough. Triple jump is more modest with 16.95. In shot put 20.20 for men. In women events 195, 460, 665, 14.20 and 18.50 in shot put.
Semifinals
Will be held as expected in men and women 60 m (always 3 semifinals with 24 runners and 8 finalists), in the men´s 60 m hurdles also 3 semifinals, but in women 60 m hurdles semifinals only two races (16). There will be also two semifinals in 400 m races to establish 6 finalists. In the 800 m only men will have 2 semifinals, women with 16 runners in heats no semifinal and straight to final. Men´s 1500 m will have 3 heats and women 2 heats, in both cases to qualify for 9 athletes final. In both 3000 m for men and women two heats to establish 12 finalists from 19 men and 21 women. Men´s 4×400 m relay is having two heats and as earlier reported women´s 4×400 m will have straight final.
