Congrats to Ilsa Paulson, the first U.S. women to win the RNR Country Music in it’s 11 year history! Ilsa ran 2:33.41 for the victory! Paulson had planned to race in Italy on Sunday, and then, this little volcano thing happened!  Paulson was also the 2009 US marathon champion.

HAMBURG (GER,
Apr 25): Wilfred Kigen finally won Hamburg Marathon in his sixth appearance
here. His winning time 2:09:22 ahead of Urige Buta, an Ethiopian who lives in Norway and
might be eligible for his new country in time for Barcelona European
Championships. His time 2:09:27 is big life-time best for him. Third Eritrean
Beraki Beyene another PB 2:10:06. Next European Spain´s Ignacio Caceres as 6th
in 2:12:49. After a great solo women win for Kenyan Sharon Cherop with career
best 2:28:38 over 19-years old Ethiopian Eshetu Degefa (2:29:48). Namibian
record holder Beata Naigambo was third (2:33:00) and best European Ukrainian
Tatyana Mezentseva in 2:34:24 fifth. In the 25th edition of the race around 20
000 participants were registered. Among them 37 runners who did not miss a
single edition. 

MADRID (ESP,
Apr 25): Kenyan Thompson Cherogony won in new course record 2:11:27 the 33rd
Madrid Marathon. Former mark of Joseph Ngolepus was 2:11:30 in 2006. In all races 15 000
runners were registered. Second Dickson Chumba got 2:11:54 and third Jonathan
Kipkosgei 2:13:06. Best Spanish and national champion was Migel Angel Gamonal
who debuted at the distance with 2:17:27. Ethiopian Girma Tadesse won the women
race in 2:34:39 over her team-mate Hadish Letay (2:34:58) and Poland´s Justyna
Bak (2:37:52). Spanish champion Ana Casares as 6th (2:47:50). In the 10 km race long distance
legend Haile Gebrselassie won in 28:56. Francisco Espana was way back as second
in 30:28.

NASHVILLE (USA, Apr 24): Colombian William
Naranjo won Country Music Marathon clocking 2:15:38. A double for Colombia was
confirmed by second placed Juan Carlos Cordona (2:15:50). Third Kenyan Wilson
Chepkwony got 2:16:24. Ina Paulson, the first American winner in the 11-year
history of the event achieved 2:33:41. She had been scheduled to run in  Italy, on Sunday, but she changed plans after
the volcanic eruption in Iceland
forced flight delays and cancellations throughout Europe.
Second Ethiopian Serkalem Abrha was timed at 2:35:19.

PADOVA (ITA, Apr 25): Kenyan Rael Kiyara won the women division at 11th
Maratona Santo Antonio in new course record 2:30:18. She bettered the previous
one by 2 seconds. Second Priscah Jeptoo clocked 2:30:53. Gilber Chepkwony was
the best man after 2:10:45 beating Italian Giovanni Gualdi to second in
2:13:39. In total 4400 runners participated. 

ENSCHEDE (NED, Apr 25): Kenyan John Kelai won the 42nd Enschede Marathon in
2:12:17 over course record holder Jacob Yator (2:12:43). Dutch Ingrid Prigge
was the best woman after 2:46:24.

ANTWERP (BEL, Apr 25): Kenyan Nahashon Kimaiyo
won the Antwerp
marathon in 2:12:00. Best woman did not went under 3 hours.

EMMEN (NED, Apr 25): Dutch Arnaud Okken clocked in a solo race Barcelona standard at 800 m 1:46.27.
