KINGSTON/LAUSANNE (JAM/SUI): TrackAlerts informs that world and olympic
Champion, Shelly-Ann Fraser, has withdrawn from Diamond League meeting in
Lausanne, Switzerland, because of an IAAF positive finding. She will now fly
back to Jamaica for an hearing. The findings came from the use of pain
medication she used in May after suffering excruciating pain from a dental
procedure. Fraser’s track & field club, MVP through its President Bruce
James, broke the news on Thursday. „We are coming forward with this
information, because we have nothing to hide. The positive finding is not a performance
enhancing drug or a masking agent and therefore we want to have this
matter resolved as fast as possible. We are the ones who are making the
immediate decision to come public with this.” Trackalerts.com understands the
IAAF confirmed with the staff of MVP that it was not a PED and that she
could compete until the matter was cleared up but they chose to not go that
route and thought it best to withdraw Fraser until the matter was cleared up by
a hearing panel in Jamaica. James said there will be a press
conference tomorrow afternoon in Kingston at a time and location to be
confirmed.
