Our friend, Tom Bedford, used the Dublin course to win a very hefty wager about his athletic ability just a year or two ago, I believe. He put the wager to good use, raising money for a fine cause. Nice to see so many marathoners in Dublin as Moses Kangogo Kibet of Kenya ran 2:08:58, and Russian Tatyana Aryasova ran 2:26:13-both negative splitting!

KOZMUS
IS BACK

LJUBLJANA (SLO): 2008 hammer olympic winner
and 2009 world champion Primoz Kozmus is back after one year of no throwing. He
initially ended his career after 2009 season and wants to throw again in 2011.
His agent Uros Zager confirmed that he was practicing already for some time.
The news release came after the Monday meeting with Prime Minister Borut Pahor,
and the Minister of Education and Sport Igor LukÅ¡ic. “I had to stop my career
because of number of reasons that were of personal nature. However, I am a
sportsman at heart and I think that I can still achieve a lot. I had enough
regeneration and Im returning in full health,” he was quoted. It is not clear
whether he will continue to work with coach Vladimir Kevo. His last competition
was on September 15, 2009 in
Szczecin, Poland.

COURSE
RECORDS IN DUBLIN

DUBLIN (IRL, Mon 25): Course records for both
the men’s and women’s winners at 31st adidas Dublin Marathon on Bank Holiday
day. Kenyan Moses Kangogo Kibet and Russian Tatyana Aryasova, who both ran
“negative split” races achieved that. Kibet was with four other contenders at
the half-way point (1:05:22), and five other contenders at 30 km (1:32:24). He then
quickened his pace to cover the second half of the race in 1:03:36 and won by
46 seconds in 2:08:58; course record holder Aleksey Sokolov finished fifth in
2:10:31 as best European. Second Ethiopian Fikadu Kedir (2:09:44), third and
fourth Kenyans Maurice Mutinda (2:10:25) and Jonathan Chesoo (2:10:27).  Aryasova trailed first half leader Kateryna
Stetsenko by half a minute, 1:14:12 to 1:14:41.
But Aryasova, the 2008 Honda LA Marathon champion, scorched the second half in
1:11:32 to blow away the field in a course record and personal best 2:26:13.
Second Stetsenko of Ukraine also lifetime best 2:27:51 and the same for third
Russian Elza Kireyeva 2:28:02. Last sub 2:30 time for Ethiopian Tiki Gelana as
fourth 2:29:53. Writes Race Results Weekly.

his track career. The Athens 2004 silver winner will chase history at next

to compete in Daegu. “It’s something that I am going to eat, sleep and think
about a lot,” explained McFarlane, who also said he is well aware of the task
he faces. His first accomplishment will be to make it to Daegu, because
according to him, “Getting a top-three berth in Jamaica trials, is not going to
be as easy as it used to be” National champion Isa Phillips, Leford Green, the
fastest Jamaican in 2010, Olympic finalist Markino Buckley and Adrian Findlay,
are four sub-49 guys, while Josef Robertson and Roxroy Cato are two of the
athletes who will be looking to break the 49 barrier next season. In 2010
