Lots has been going on this week in our sport. I thought it might make sense to give you all of the releases that USATF communications has put out since the beginning of the convention. Big news, is BP sponsorship and logo clarifcation. Some very good comments, on the logo situation at the AAC meeting.

I was called paternalistic earlier today. Sorry if that is how some see it. I believe that differences in perspective, are for the most part, helpful. It allows us to learn and see how to look at a situation from other view.

Individuals honored at Awards Lunch; logo enforcement at Fall XC Champs clarified

ST. LOUIS – Dozens of contributors surrounding the sport of track and
field were honored during the Awards Lunch Saturday while decisions were
made regarding uniform guidelines for the Club Cross Country
Championships. Both were part of the USA Track & Field Annual
Meeting in St. Louis which continues through Sunday.

Westerfield wins Giegengack Award
 | 12/3/2011
ST. LOUIS – Gary Westerfield was given the Robert Giegengack Award
Saturday evening during the Jesse Owens Hall of Fame Banquet at the
Hyatt Regency. The banquet was a part of the USA Track & Field
Annual Meeting, which will conclude with the Closing Session Sunday.

Blackmun, Hightower, McNees speak to kick off USA Track & Field Annual Meeting

ST. LOUIS – USA Track & Field Chairman and President Stephanie
Hightower, United States Olympic Committee CEO Scott Blackmun and USATF
Interim CEO Mike McNees highlighted Thursday at the Hyatt Regency in
downtown St. Louis as the 33rd edition of the USA Track & Field
Annual Meeting officially kicked off with the Opening General Session.

USA Track & Field, BP America, Inc. announce Olympic Trials Marathon sponsorship

INDIANAPOLIS – USA Track & Field and BP America Inc. announced
today that BP will be the official Oil/Gas/Energy sponsor for the 2012
U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon, to be held in Houston on January 14, 2012.

Talcott named USATF Athlete of the Week
 | 11/30/2011
INDIANAPOLIS – Dave Talcott (Owego, N.Y.) has been named USA Track
& Field’s Athlete of the Week after meeting the qualifying standard
for the men’s 50 km U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Race Walk at the Ohio
Last Chance 50k in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

St. Louis to host USATF Annual Meeting
 | 11/30/2011
INDIANAPOLIS – Beginning today and running through December 4, the
Hyatt Regency in St. Louis, Mo., will play host to the 2011 USA Track
& Field Annual Meeting. It will be the second time the meeting will
be hosted in St. Louis as it was also there in 1994.

Jamaican sprint stars head to U.S. Open; CHSAA relays return
 | 11/30/2011
NEW YORK – Former world record holder and sprinting legend Asafa
Powell will make his New York indoor track debut at the 2012 U.S. Open
Track & Field on January 28 at Madison Square Garden, USA Track
& Field announced Wednesday.
