NANCY (FRA, Jul 8): The Meeting Stanislas of Nancy was held in strong winds. Hurdlers are the end were lucky with +1.6 as Joel Brown clocked 13.23 ahead of Cuban Orlando Ortega 13.25 and home Dimitri Bascou 13.34 and European champion 2010 Andy Turner 13.45. French Helsinki medalist Garfield Darien was disqualified. I women hurdles Ginnie Crawford posted 12.88 (+0.1) over NCAA Champion Christine Manning who debuted in Europe with 13.00. Flat sprints were aided by too strong winds. Mike Rodgers won in 9.96 (+2.4) ahead of Kim Collins also 9.96, Trell Kimmons 10.06 and Mario Forsythe 10.07. Laverne Jones-Ferrette of US Virging Islands was timed with 10.91 (+4.5) over Charonda Williams 10.95 and European champion Ivet Lalova 11.01. World and olympic winner Valerie Adams won the shot put with her second best mark of the year and fourth best of her career 20.97 (all 6 throws over 20 meters). French pole vault star Renaud Lavillenie continued with his unbeaten streak of 2012 with 573 first attempt clearance (missed then 583). Tabarie Henry of US Virgin Islands won the 400 m in 45.49 over Calvin Smith 45.59. In the 1500 m for women Moroccan Siham Hilali got 4:06.85 and Kenyan James Magut was the best man in 3:39.27. Russian Pavel Shalin won the long jump (796, +1.0) and Ukrainian Roman Avramenko the javelin (79.86).

 
JAMAICAN WINS IN FINLAND

LAPINLAHTI (FIN, Jul 8): Savo Games (EA Permit) witnessed Rabah Yusif of Sudan winning the 400 m in 45.59 and also the 200 m B-race in 21.06 (-0.8) PB. Jamaicans won both sprints. Nicholas Watson the 100 m in 10.29 (+0.1) over Ramil Guliyev of Turkey 10.33 and Kenroy Anderson 10.35. Afterwards Anderson was the best in the 200 m in 20.59 (-0.5) ahead of Watson 20.68 PB and Guliyev 20.69. Tero Pitkamäki beat home field in javelin with 81.70. David Soderberg achieved 74.29 in hammer and Tommi Evila 781 (+1.3) in the long jump. In women events Sandra Eriksson got the steeple in 9:43.38 PB and Ethiopian Meskerem Assefa the 1500 m in 4:09.51 over Sinimole Paulose of India 4:10.72 and Ciara Mageean of Ireland 4:14.91. European junior champion from last year Vera Rudakova improved her PB in the 400 m hurdles to 56.47.

 
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

SANTRY (IRL, Jul 8): Paul Hession won the 100 m in 10.37 (+1.0) in close duel over Jason Smyth at Irish Championships (10.38). Brian Murphy got the 400 m title in 46.97. Jo Cuddihy won the women 400 m in 51.89 and Jessie Barr the 400 m hurdles in 57.33.

KAUNAS (LTU, Jul 8): Darius Aucyna achieved 16.84 (+1.3) during second day of national championships in the triple jump. Lina Muze won the javelin with good 61.04.

BRESSANONE (ITA, Jul 8): Last day of Italian Championships saw former Euro long jump winner Andrew Howe in first serious race after a big injury last year. He won the 200 m in 20.76 (-1.9). More luck with olympic standard for talented high jumper Gianmarco Tamberi who cleared his PB of 231. Second Filippo Campioli 225. Second A standard of the day for young Jose de Leon who improved his best to 49.33 at 400 m hurdles. Claudio Licciardello after a long training-stage under Loren Seagrave in California won the title in the 400 m with 46.15. Another Seagrave coached athlete Libania Grenot was the best in women 200 m 22.91 (-1.1). A very exciting triple jump was won by  Daniele Greco with 17.67 (+3.4, legal 17.39 +1.1)) ahead of European champ Fabrizio Donato 17.52m (+1.4) and Fabrizio Schembri 17,23 (+2.5, legal 16.90 +1.4). Hammer winner was Lorenzo Povegliano 76.29 ahead of Nicola Vizzoni 74.08. In women long jump Tania Vincenzino won with 665 (+2.1). Manuela Gentili clocked good 55.87 at 400 m hurdles and Euromedalist Chiara Rosa won the shot put (18.30).

LISBON (POR, Jul 8): Joao Almeida improved his national record from Helsinki 13.56 to 13.47 (+1.3) at 110 m hurdles during second day of Portugal Championships. European medalist Patricia Mamona won the triple national title 14.42 (+2.7, legal 14.16 +2.0) ahead of Susana Costa 14.19 (+1.1) PB. David Lima won the 200 m in 20.82 (+3.4 and faster 20.72 +1.8 in heats), Jorge Paula 50.43 at 400 m hurdles.

 
OTHER RESULTS

MATARO (ESP, Jul 8): The 17th Miting Ciutat de Mataró was last possibility for olympic qualifying times. Helio Gomes of Portugal won the 1500 m in 3:38.49 ahead of Diego Ruiz 3:38.51 with no A-qualifiers. Byron Piedra of Ecuador was another guest winning in 13:39.43 the 5000 m. But the highest quality came in steeple where Angel Mullera got 8:17.91 over Simon Akeyo of Uganda 8:23.62 and Roberto Alaiz 8:24.86. Mario Pestano won the discus 65.42 ahead of Frank Casanas 63.91. In women races Eunice Jepkorir of Kenya won the steeple 9:47.47, Judit Pla the 5000 m 15:36.90 and Nazaret Weldu the 1500 m in 4:09.34 what is new national record for Eritrea.

HILVERSUM (NED, Jul 8): Gregory Sedoc posted 13.77 (-1.2) to win the 110 m hurdles at Arena Games. Eric Cadee was the best in discus 63.30.

PATRA (GRE, Jul 7): At Tofalia meet new national U23 record by Athina Koini in the 3000 m 9:15.89. Dimitrios Tsiamis achieved 16.52 in the triple jump and Luis Tsatoumas 788 in the long jump.

NIKITI (GRE, Jul 8): Traditional throwing meet had Andras Haklits of Croatia as hammer winner 73.91 and Yeoryos Tremos with 61.57 in discus.

CHAMBERY (FRA, Jul 8): Hugo Grillas won the main event here at 400 m hurdles in 50.27 over Briton Ben Sumners 50.40. Women winner Sara Petersen of Denmark was timed with 56.76.

KUMASI (GHA, Jul 6): At Ghana Grand Prix meet fast 200 m by Nigerian Noah Akwu 20.54 (+0.6), home star Ignisious Gaisah leaped to 804 (+0.7) in the long jump. Abiola Onokoya of Nigeria won the 400 m in 45.99. In women events Damola Osayomi got 100 m (11.44, -1.0) and 200 m (23.47, +1.5) wins.

NAIROBI (KEN, Jul 8): Victor Kipchirchir won with 1:01.45 the Sotokoto Safari Half-Marathon in the suburb of Nairobi. He beat in final sprint Peter Kimeli Some in 1:01:46. Third Boston and NY marathons winner Geoffrey Mutai  (1:02:13) ahead of Mathew Kisorio (1:02:46). Former Commonwealth 10 000m champion Grace Momanyi won in women race 1:11:42 over Philes Ongori (1:12:57 ) and Pauline Njeri (1:13:39). Also a good 10 km in this event: Nicholas Togom (brother of Mathew Kisorio) first in men in 29:13 in front of Richard Kiprop (29:18) and Paul Karanja (29.24). Women winner Philomena Chepchirchir 34:02.

TEHRAN (IRI, Jul 7): Olympic qualifier from a local meet Mohammad Arzandeh with long jump national record 817 (+1.3).

UTICA (USA, Jul 8):  Tilahun Regassa of Ethiopia cruised to victory in the 35th annual Boilermaker Road Race in an unofficial time of 43:00. Mamitu Daska of Ethiopia won the women’s division in 49:28.

OMAHA (USA, Jul 7): Central Park Track Club New Balance (New York) dominated the 12th edition of the USATF National Club Track & Field Championships. In the women’s competition Central Park Track Club New Balance (CPTC) defended their 2010 and 2011 titles outscoring second place Club Northwest (Pacific Northwest) 265 to 183.  In the men’s competition Central Park claimed their second title in the past three years scoring a total of 259 points.   The ru
nner-up was meet host Team Nebraska / Brooks with 133 points followed by Greater Boston TC (New England) with 95 points. Top performances were 45.02 in the 400 m by Lalonde Gordon of Trinidad (his PB and olympic qualifier) and 52.10 by Alianne Pompey of Guyana in the same women event. Also to note the 10.19 100m win for Jeremy Bascom. Lalonde Gordon also won the 200 m in 20.63.

OS (NOR, Jul 8): In Last Qualifier in the walking Erik Tysse achieved 1:21:06 in the 20 km and qualified for the Games. He was lucky as his doping ban ended on July 7.

IGUAZU (BRA, Jul 8): In the 6th edition of the Half Marathon here in cold weather Kenyan Ben Kiplimo Mutai won in 1:02:03 ahead of Brazilians Giovani dos Santos (1:02:12)  and Damiao Ancelmo de Souza (1:02:24). Pascalia Chepkorir Kipkoech clocked fast 1:08:20 in the women category. Second Flomena Cheyech 1:10:01 and third London Marathon bound Jessica Augusto 1:14:08.

RIO DE JANEIRO (BRA, Jul 8): Willy Kimutai won the Rio de Janeiro Marathon in 2:15:01 with Marco Antonio Pereira second in 2:17:07. Thabita Kibet was the best woman in new course record 2:34:41. In total 20 000 runners in all races at the course which went through all Olympic 2016 places.
