On Sunday in New York, when I spoke to manager Jos Hermans, Jos was still very concerned about the fate of the Hengelo meeting. Thank god that the City of Hengelo saw that keeping their stadium multi use was in the best interest of the city of Hengelo!
We understand that Lord Coe, Haile Gebrselassie and Kenenisa Bekele all wrote and asked the City of Hengelo keep the FBK stadium and FBK Hengelo Games!
Glad to see the FBK Hengelo Meeting has been saved!
HENGELO IS SAVED
HENGELO (NED): The council of the city of Hengelo decided that the FBK Games will continue for the next years. The council voted unanimously against selling the stadium to soccer club FC Twente. The cooperation with Golazo and therewith the additional sponsor money was decisive for the council. Many athletes and former athletes supported the FBK Games in their fight for the last few months, including world record holders Haile Gebrselassie and Kenenisa Bekele. The 2014 edition of the meet will be held on June 7.
