The Muller British Grand Prix was an excellent meet and a fine day of track & field! This updated review of the meet is from EME News!

Ceh 71.27, Mihambo 709, Parchment 13.09

BIRMINGHAM (GBR, May 21): Technical events provided highlights of Muller Grand Prix, second Wanda DL meeting of 2022. Some 16 000 spectators registered in total 6 World leads and 3 meet records. Discus of Kristjan Ceh and long jump by Malaika Mihambo were top results of the day. Also five home wins were important for the organisers and spectators. Waterloo of favorites in men´s 100 m. Parchment´s hurdles in non-favorable sprint weather was also special.

Short reviews

Men

100 m: After false starts of favorites Bromell and Hughes, win surprisingly for 200 m specialist Aaron Brown 10.13 over Yohan Blake 10.18 (-0.2) followed by Jerome Blak 10.20 and Oly winner Andre De Grasse 10.24.

400 m: European champion Matthew Hudson-Smith delivered a good win in 45.32 after fast times in USA.

800 m: Marco Arop in greatly timed finish won clearly in 1:45.41, Olympic medalists Dobek 5th and Murphy 7th, World Indoor champion Garcia 10th.

1500 m: Third win in a row after Nairobi and Doha for Abel Kipsang 3:35.15, closest to him was Mohamed Katir in first track race of the season 3:35.62.

110mH: Duel of Olympic winners brought WL for Hansle Parchment 13.09 (+0.2) over Omar McLeod 13.17.

HJ: Surprise winner Django Lovett 228 as Oly winner Tamberi was second 225. Korean Woo at the end did not come.

DT: Huge improvement for Slovenian youngster Kristjan Ceh 71.27 in third round, not only DLR, WL, NR, MR but also 10th best perfomer ever. Gudzius beat Stahl for 2nd 66.40 to 65.97.

Women

100 m: Dina Asher-Smith started well and defended her lead in 11.11 (-0.1) against fast closing Shericka Jackson 11.12 and in-shape Daryll Neita 11.14.

800 m: In final international event, Keely Hodgkinson delivered a nice win in 1:58.63 with French Lamote as the only other one with sub 2 (1:59.53).

1500 m: Also Laura Muir fulfilled the expectations with dominant 4:02.81 win. Australian Jessica Hull was the only who stayed with her 4:03.42 as second.

5000 m: Ethiopian Dawit Seyaum confirmed top shape with 14:47.55 WL, best European Grovdal fourth 14:51.38 and fifth German Klein 14:51.71 PB.

400mH: Former WR holder Dalilah Muhammad with a commanding win 54.54 ahead of Ukrainians Tkachuk 55.25 and Ryzhykova 55.37.

PV: Sandi Morris as only one cleared 473 WL and tried at 481. Second in a tie Sutej and Stefanidi 465 as Olympic winner Nageotte achieved only 430 and home Bradshaw no-heighted at 445.

LJ: Olympic winner Malaika Mihambo ruled with 709 WL and MR in fourth attempt and 706w in last one. Bekh-Romanchuk 666 as second. World indoor champ Vuleta 5th (654).

DT: Another Tokyo Gold medalist Valarie Allman continues in winning ways with 67.85 over Sandra Perkovic who came close in last throw 67.26.
