This is my interview with BBC Sports World on day 3 of the Oregon 22 World Athletics Championships, held July 15-24, 2022.

I have been doing short segments with BBC World Service since 2008, and thanks to Ed Harry, one of BBC Sport’s long-time sports announcers, I have been called on more occasions around the big U.S. meets and global meets.

What do I love about BBC Sportsworld? BBC gives the general sports fan information and intimacy on events that they would never hear about anywhere else. Ed Harry does a wonderful segment on the late Steve  Prefontaine and his legacy in Eugene, Oregon.

At the Olympics in 2016, I was asked to sit in on the live calling of the Men’s 800m at Rio. It was glorious, and I was asked by Clayton Murphy, who I picked to take the bronze medal in the 800 meters.

This segment was about the Prefontaine legacy and the challenges of the World Champs; I was asked about the upcoming US events. Steve Bence’s comments on Phil Knight’s concerns about the sport make sense. Ed Harry provides an amazing depth of interviews with his partners (Adi Adendoye is awesome) on the global sport.

The host, Katie Smith, was a lot of fun, and she goes from one journalist to another, and she came back to me about the upcoming day 3 evening session and how I thought the US would fare.

I predicted 2 medals in women’s PV, 2 medals in Men’s shot for the U.S., and a possible sweep in 110m hurdles. So, I predicted 8 of the 9 medals for the U.S. that day.

Katie Smith gave kudos to Chase Ealey, who took U.S. first medal in the shot put. Ed Harry and Adi Adendoye picked the women’s 100 meters that would happen later on night 3!

Thanks, BBC SportsWorld!
