This is the results of the Western regional of the Champs XC, which was held at Mt.SAC on December 3, 2022. The finals will be held in San Diego, CA, on December 10, 2022.

RACE HIGHLIGHTS:

Sadie Englehardt of Ventura, Calif., and Samuel Hansen of Bountiful, Utah, won the Champs Sports Cross Country (formerly Foot Locker CC) Championships West Regional today. Englehardt, a sophomore at Ventura High School, claimed the title in the girls’ championship race in 17:43. Gioana Lopizzo, a junior from Carlsbad, Calif., finished second in 18:05, and Chiara Dailey, a freshman from La Jolla, Calif., placed third in 18:11. Englehardt, the runner-up in last year’s West Regional race, is the only returning national finalist from this region on both the boys’ and girls’ sides.

Hansen, a senior from Woods Cross High School, took the title in the boys’ championship race in 15:20. Milo Skapinsky, a senior from San Luis Obispo, Calif., finished second in 15:29, and Grant Morgenfeld, a junior from Palo Alto, Calif., finished third in 15:30.

5,000-meter course; good course conditions; 63 degrees; sunny skies; winds calm

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS:

The top 10 boys and the top 10 girls in the championship races qualify to compete against runners from the South, Northeast and Midwest Regional meets in the Champs Sports Cross Country Championships National Finals on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, at Morley Field, Balboa Park in San Diego, Calif.
