Week 1, Day 6, Recovery Week One
Today, take a 30-minute run or 45-minute walk.
This is the beginning of our two—to three-week recovery time. The idea is to get a physical, mental, and spiritual break. We read books, nap, goof off, and get outside and enjoy nature.
The workouts will be three days a week, and you can walk or bike to get you moving.
Each day, we will have an inspirational story for you.
Yared Nuguse is the American record holder in the mile.
He also took the silver medal in the 3,000m at the World Indoor Champs in March.
A talented runner while at Notre Dame, I first saw Yared run at the Oregon Relays in 2021.
It was a revelation.
Yared is a complete-distance runner, racing from 800m to the 3,000m.
His coach, Dathan Ritzenhein, prepares him for all situations.
Dathan, a fine distance runner in his own right, uses his racing experiences from the 2-mile to the marathon to carefully prepare his athletes.
Yared is no exception.
On Friday, Yared, taking second in the 1,500m heats, moved on to Saturday’s semi-final.
Watch this fine runner carefully, he has Paris medal written for his future!

A 30-minute easy run.
If you need something to do outside (it is hot today), walk 30 minutes early, ride a bike, or, best yet, take an easy swim and enjoy the day!
