Week 2, Day 1, Summer Mileage Program
Welcome to the first day and second week of the 2024 Summer Mileage Program, which runs for ten weeks until mid-September.
Our goal is to build you into a strong cross-country runner.
We keep it relaxed this week and add, week by week, more challenges and more inspiration!
Monday, July 15, 2024
Monday is a good day; enjoy a moderate run of 40-45 minutes. As we begin the summer mileage, it is about building some miles.
Summer mileage will change your life.
Running with friends during the summer was one of the highlights of my Summer running.
I ran with my training buddy, Bob Lucas, and we joined three friends from Monta Vista High School: Danny Grimes, Rob Ripplinger, and Jeff Nicklin.
I was allowed to use the Country Squire to drive to Moutain View, California, and run in Stevens Creek Park about once a week.
The trails were pretty rugged, and the sun was high in the sky. A good hour to seventy minute run was normally the plan, as we built to the
fall cross-country season.
Run with Friends.

What do you want to do this summer? What do you want to achieve?
To learn about the late Steve Prefontaine (1951-1975), please read this fantastic book by Tom Jordan ( I have gone through six copies and read it 12 times): https://www.amazon.com/Pre-Americas-Greatest-Running-Prefontaine/dp/0875964575
