This is my daily chat with #RunBlogRun viewers and track fans on all things track & field!
This is Coffee with Larry for Friday, August 2, 2024.
Our topics;
1. Our new partner, www.Omius.IO is our new cooling technology partner.

2. RunBlogRun loves the #Omius hat. The techonology has cooling cubes ( or diamonds). They are placed in the hat by the user (I did it, so it is very easy).
To activate the cooling cubes, just soak them with water every 90 minutes and the cooling technology does its thing. www.Omius.Io

3. RunBlogRun highly recommends the hat, and the visor for daily training and racing.
4. 20k Racewalk champion, Brian Pintardo, ECU, won the 20k in the sweltering heat and humidty on August 1, using the www.Omius.io technology.

5. Keeping your athletes cool during hot weather is important, check out www.Omius.io for some cooling tech ideas!
6. Friday had 75,000 fans in both sessions of the first in stadium day in track and field.

7. The decathlon got under way with Kevin Mayer of France pulling out, Mayer had injured his hamstring prior to the Games.

8. Damian Warner, defending champion, had stiff competition from event 1.

9. First round of the women’s 100m was impressive, with Sha’Carri Richardson, Julien Alfred, Melissa Jefferson, Darryl Neita all running well.

10. Leonardo Fabri, the European champion, had longest shot put qualifier, 21.93m.

11. The men’s 10,000m will go down as a race for the ages. The Ethiopians (Yomif Kejelcha, Aregawi Birhanu, Selemon Barega) pushed pace thru 5k in 13:23. Grant Fisher, US, was there, and Joshua Cheptegai was lurking. Cheptegai took the lead with 500m to go, and that was it. Grant Foster fought past Mo Ahmed of Canada, but Aregawi Birhanu went by both, with Birhanu getting silver and Fisher getting bronze. Grant Fisher became the only 4th American ever to get an Olympic medal at 10,000 meters.

12. Crowd was best I have seen since London 2012: filling the stadium, knowledgable and loud!
13. Please support Brooks Running shoes, www.brooksrunning.com, who have supported RunBlogRun since 2006 and American Track & Field (American Athletics then), since 1990!
See you Sunday, August 4, in the pm for Coffee with Larry. Thanks to Omius for their support!
