PESCARA (ITA, Sep 8-9): Gianmarco Tamberi closed his season by clearing 2.30m for victory at the Italian Championships in Pescara, his third successive competition at 2.30m or higher since the European Championships. Elena Vallortigara cleared 1.91m to win the women’s high jump title and former world U20 bronze medallist Roberta Bruni continued her comeback with a 4.35m clearance in the women’s pole vault. There were fast times in the 400m hurdles finals with Jose Bencosme winning the men’s title in 49.52 and Yadisleidy Pedroso winning the women’s title in 55.62 and Davide Re completed the 200/400m double by winning the 200m in 21.04. Chiara Rosa won the women’s shot put title with 17.08m and Marco Lingua was the best in the men’s hammer with 73.95m. On Saturday Lamont Jacobs won the 100 m in 10.24 ((+0.1) and Lorenzo Perini hurdles 13.57 (+0.4). Irene Siragusa topped the 200 m in 23.25 (-0.2).
