McMillanElite Signs Four-year Sponsorship Extension with adidas
Flagstaff, AZ – 17 December 2009 – McMillanElite has extended its sponsorship contract with adidas through the year 2013. The sponsorship agreement allows McMillanElite to assist up to 15 emerging elite distance runners. The adidas team contract provides equipment, race travel and housing support.
“adidas was our first sponsor and I am thrilled that our partnership will continue through and beyond the 2012 London Olympics. With their sponsorship, they are directly helping the resurgence of US distance running. This renewed commitment to our team means that more aspiring Olympians will have the opportunity to pursue their dreams,” said coach Greg McMillan.
Applications are currently being accepted for both the men’s and women’s teams and athletes will be selected throughout the spring and summer. McMillanElite targets promising long distance runners who want to continue their running careers after college. Focusing on distances from 1,500m to the marathon, the team is based in the high altitude training mecca of Flagstaff, Arizona. Besides the benefits the adidas team contract provides, athletes receive a health insurance subsidy, injury prevention treatment (including massage subsidy), comprehensive physiological monitoring and fast track medical care.
