Liliya Shobukhova is running the 2011 Bank of America Chicago Marathon, hoping to win an unprecedented third time in the Windy City. Shobukhova, who has won three of her five marathons, is the current Russian national record holder, and has the amazing ability to run the second half very strong in her marathons.

Shobukhova for Chicago triple

CHICAGO (USA): The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced that
two-time defending champion Russian Liliya Shobukhova will return to
compete for her third straight victory, a feat that has never before
been accomplished at Chicago’s fall classic. The Russian Olympian and
national record-holder has dominated the flat and fast streets of
Chicago for the past two years, crushing the competition with a
devastating kick in 2009, and using patient, measured tactics to outlast
her competition in 2010. A victory at the 34th annual Bank of America
Chicago Marathon on October 9 would put Shobukhova in a class by herself
as owner of three consecutive titles.

SHENZHEN (CHN, Aug 18): Impressive African javelin record for Sunette
Viljoen 66.47 highlighted the third day of athletics at World University

400 m in 45.50 over improved Jamaican Peter Matthews (he is not a
statistician) 45.62 and Australian Sean Wroe 45.93. Algerian twins
