A belated happy Fathers Day to all the fathers in our audience. We hope you had a great day. I took of Sunday to spend with my mother, father and son. A wonderful day. Please enjoy the compilation of great results from this past weekend!

Athletes are coming out of the woodwork, as national championships and selections begin. Lots of exciting competitions to witness. The US Olympic Team Trials for Track & Field will start this Thursday, June 21 and finish July 1.

During the US Trials, the British will have their Trials, June 22-24, and the Jamaican Trials are one week later!

ZHUKOVSKIY
(RUS, Jun 17): The 54th Znamensky Memorial (EA Classic) saw a fast women
1500 m where new name Yekaterina Poistogova clocked 4:00.11 personal best ahead
of world indoor record holder Yelena Soboleva 4:01.14 and Yekaterina Martynova
4:02.75. Other top women marks include sensational 195 by Norway´s Tonje
Angelsen in high jump (also national U23 record) over Irina Gordeyeva 195 and
Bulgarian Mirela Demireva 192. Anna Avdeyeva achieved season best 19.54 in the
shot put and world champion Tatyana Lysenko 75.48 in hammer beating Gulfiya
Khanafeyeva 73.48 and Cuban Yipsi Moreno 72.40. World indoor medalist Alina
Talay of Belarus won the 100 m hurdles in 12.79 personal best (+0.6) and
lifetime best also for second Russian Olga Samylova 12.82. World leader Irina
Davydova won the 400 m hurdles (54.61). Yulia Gushchina was the best in the 200
m (22.95, -0.3) over Tameka Williams of St. Kitts (22.96) and personal best
22.90 (+1.8) in B-race for Olga Belkina. Lyudmila Litvinova won the 400 m in
51.76 over Irish Jo Cuddihy 51.98. In men events fast and windy 100 m (+2.3)
10.08 by Lithuanian record holder Rytis Sakalauskas over Turkish Ramil Guliyev
10.15 in the 100 m. In heats new PB for Russian Aleksander Brednev 10.19 (-0.1)
with Sakalauskas 10.23 and Jamaican Ainsley Waugh 10.28. Great PB for
Uzbekistan´s javelin thrower Ivan Zaytsev 85.03 ahead of Valeriy Yordan 80.85
(also PB). Vladimir Krasnov won the 400 m 46.15, Ukrainian Oleksandr Osmolovych
the 800 m (1:46.97), Ethiopian Abiyot Abinet the 1500 m (3:40.02), Aleksandr
Menkov was the best in the long jump 806 (0.0), Aleksey Fyodorov 16.55 (-0.3)
in the triple jump and Igor Vinichenko in hammer (77.29).

 

SANCHEZ
AND SIBILEVA WINNERS

SESTO
SAN GIOVANNI (ITA, Jun 17): Mexican Eder Sanchez won the 55th Coppa Citta di
Sesto San Giovanni (IAAF Walking Challenge) in 1:24:52 ahead of Russian Pyotr
Trofimov 1:25:22. In women race Russian Tatyana Sibileva was the best in
1:30:35 over Irish world medalist Olive Loughnane 1:31:33 and Australian Claire
Tallent 1:32:30. Italian titles to Federico Tontodonati (1:28:37, 7th overall)
and Federica Ferraro (6th overall, 1:37:43).

 

 

 

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS (SUNDAY ACTION)

 

 

GERMANY
(Wattenschied): Throwing favorites won. David Storl 20.96 in the shot put,
Robert Harting 67.79 in discus, Markus Esser 75.38 in hammer and Christina
Obergfoll 65.86 in the javelin. Here second Linda Stahl 64.35 ahead of
Katharina Molitor 63.20. In the pole vault Malte Mohr cleared 582 to win over
Raphael Holzdeppe 577 followed by Karsten Dilla 572 and Bjorn Otto also 572.
Eike Onnen won the high jump 225, when Raul Spank was only third 222. Georg
Fleischhauer was the best in the 400 m hurdles in 49.74 and took three more
runners to sub 50 territory. Julian Reus won the 200 m in 20.58 (+1.1) over
Aleixo Platini Menga 20.64 (he was faster in heats 20.55 +0.6). Women winners
Jenny Elbe 14.06 (+0.6) in the triple jump, Esther Cremer 52.21 in the 400 m,
Corinna Harrer in the 1500 m 4:11.04 and Antje Moldner-Schmidt 9:42.42 in the
steeple.

 

FRANCE
(Angers): Eurowinner Christophe Lemaitre clocked 20.31 (+0.5) to win the 200 m
ahead of Ben Bassaw 20.58 and Jimmy Vicaut 20.58. Yannick Fonsat took the 400 m
title in 45.39. Garfield Darien was again fast at 110 m hurdles 13.28 (-0.8)
beating Samuel Coco-Viloin 13.56 and Ladji Doucoure also 13.56. European leader
Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad got the steeple title in 8:27.80. Senegal´s Mamadou
Kasse Hann won the 400 m hurdles in 49.04 over Heni Kechi 49.91. World leader
Renaud Lavillenie remains unbeaten with 585 cm pole vault win (second Roman
Mesnil 562). Mickael Hanany cleared 225 in the high jump and Kaba Ndiss Badji
of Senegal 802 (+1.2) in the long jump. Here second Frederic Erin windy 801
(+2.4, legal 786) ahead of Salim Sdiri 798 (+1.1). Myriam Soumare dominated the
women 200 m and showed increased shape with 22.74 (+0.5) over Johanna Danois
22.86. Other winners include olympic winner Francoise Mbango 14.27 (+0.9) in
the triple jump, Stephanie Falzon 70.57 in hammer, Phara Anacharsis 55.97 at
400 m hurdles, Hind Dehiba 4:18.60 in the 1500 m and Muriel Hurtis 52.17 in the
400 m.

 

POLAND
(Bielsko-Biala): Olympic finalist Artur Noga posted good 13.38 (+0.1) at 110m
hurdles over Dominik Bochenek 13.76, but 13.59 (+1.5) in heats. Szymon Kiecana
won the high jump with 228 PB. Karol Hoffmann also PB 16.98 (+1.5) in the
triple jump. Kamil Krynski won fast 200 m in 20.57 (-0.1) over Dariusz Kuc
20.59. Bartosz Nowicki dominated the 1500 m in 3:38.93. Marika Popowicz was the
fastest in women 200 m with windy 23.18 (+3.1, legal 23.32 +1.4 in heats).
Solid 1500 m 4:06.96 for Renata Plis ahead of Lidia Chojecka 4:07.86 and Danuta
Urbanik 4:08.32. Monika Pyrek cleared 445 to win the pole vault and Teresa
Dobija leaped to 665 (+0.4) in the long jump over Anna Jagaciak 661 (+0.4). Joanna
Wisniewska beat with 61.92 favorite Zaneta Glanc 60.80 in discus.

 

CZECH
REPUBLIC (Vyskov): Denisa Rosolova sensationally improved in her third real
race at the distance to third fastest in Europe 2012 54.38 at 400 m hurdles. „Finally
I was able to have a smooth race, until 8th hurdle with 15 strides. I start
to like this event,” she said. Second Zuzana Bergrova 56.67. Pavel Maslak
equaled the national record in the 200 m with 20.60 (+1.4) ahead of Vojtech
Sulc 20.80. Maslak looked even more relaxed in the heats with easy 20.66
(+1.6). Top javelin throwers dominated, Barbora Spotakova 64.40 and Vitezslav
Vesely 81.15. Katerina Cechova improved also her 200 m best to 23.45 (+1.4)
win. Second 400 m hurdles national record holder Zuzana Hejnova 23.93 PB. More
improvements for Vaclav Barak 50.04 at 400 m hurdles, Daniel Nemecek 46.36 and
Jitka Bartonickova 52.72 at 400 m.

 

BELGIUM
(Brussels): Kevin Borlee confirmed top shape with another fast time winning the
finals with 44.63 (on Saturday 44.56 NR in heats) ahead of Antoine Gillet
46.03. His brother Jonathan won the 200 m in 20.32 (+1.5), just 0.01 behind his
PB. Adrien Deghelt won the 110 m hurdles in 13.64 (+0.4) ahead of Siddhanth
Thingalaya of India who improved his own national record to 13.65. Michael
Bultheel won the 400 m hurdles in 49.60. In women sprints Hanne Claes got the
200 m in 23.33 (+0.5) over Olivia Borlee 23.34 and Anne Zagre 100 m hurdles in
12.92 (+1.0) over Eline Berings 12.95.

 

NETHERLANDS
(Amsterdam): Olympic finalist Churandy Martina fulfilled his favorite role and
won the 100 m in 10.22 (-0.6). Jerrel Ferrel in his absence won the 200 m in
20.76 PB (+0.2). Eric Cadee was the best in discus (63.14). Dafne Schippers won
two titles (100 m in 11.38 +0.1 and long jump with 654 +1.1 PB). Jamile Samuel
won the 200 m in 23.15 (-0.7).

 

SLOVAKIA
(Banska Bystrica): Jana Veldakova leaped to 664 (+0.9) in the long jump over
Renata Medgyesova 648 (+1.0) and she is currently qualified for London. Martin
Kucera improved to 50.73 at 400 m hurdles and qualified for Helsinki. Martin
Benak achieved 78.97 in the javelin and Lucia Klocova ruled in the tactical 800
m (2:05.05).

 

HUNGARY
(Szekszard): Good throws here as Zoltan Kovago achieved 67.91 in discus and
Krisztian Pars 80.28 in the hammer.

 

SERBIA
(Novi Sad): During first day on Saturday Asmir Kolasinac won the shot put with
20.48 m. Emir Bekric who is the hurdles specialist won the 400 m flat in 46.91.
Second Milos Raovic clocked Barcelona world junior standard 47.82.

 

AZERBAIJAN
(Baku): Ruslan Abbasov won the 100 m in 10.39 (+0.6). Hakim Ibrahimov won the
400 m in personal best 46.19. Georgian guest Maiko Gogoladze won the long jump
with 665 (+2.0). Championships were held of Friday and Saturday.

MARIBOR
(SLO, Jun 17): Rozle Prezelj improved during second day of National Cup meet
his own Slovenian high jump record to 232 in first attempt. He then tried at
235 and the first one was the best. Sabina Veit won the 200 m in 23.32 (+1.2)
and Brent Larue clocked 49.99 at 400 m hurdles.

 

WARSZAWA
(POL, Jun 16): At local meet Qatari record holder Mutaz Essa Barshim cleared
230 in the high jump.

 

MISANO
ADRIATICO (ITA, Jun 17): At Italian U23 Championships Diego Marani clocked
20.77 (+1.7) in the 200 m. Gloria Hooper was the best in women 200 m in 23.21
(+0.9).

 

SASSARI
(ITA, Jun 17): Fabio Cerrutti clocked here fast 10.24 (+0.3) in the 100 m ahead
of African sprinters. Second Abdourahim Haroun of Chad improved the national
record with 10.25, third Suwaibou Sanneh of Gambia 10.26 and Idrissa Adam of
Cameroon 10.28.

 

VARAZDIN
(CRO, Jun 17): New Croatian record for junior Ivan Horvat in the pole vault
with 560 cm clearance. He is so second best junior in the world 2012.

 

ANKARA
(TUR, Jun 17): Ozkan Baltaci improved his own Turkish junior hammer record at
national championships of that category to 77.70 m (6 kg).

 

RADES
(TUN, Jun 16): International meet in Tunisia saw Kenyan Ezekiel Meli winning
the 5000 m in meet record 13:29.58. Another meet record for Cuban Omar Cisneros
with 49.19 at 400 m hurdles. Rolando Palacios of Honduras won the 200 m in
21.02 (-0.1).

 

TBILISI
(GEO, Jun 16): Zurab Gogochur of Georgia improved here the national high jump
record to 226 cm. Dmitriy Barskiy of Israel clocked 10.37 (-1.3) in the 100 m.

 

BEDFORD
(GBR, Jun 17): At UK junior championships James Gladman won the 110 m hurdles
in 13.50 (+1.7). Kate Byres cleared 436 in the pole vault. In the U23 category
Lawrence Okoye won the discus with 63.66. Sprinting talent Adam Gemili won the
200 m heat with fast 20.61 (-1.1) PB but did not run the finals.

 

SUNDSVALL
(SWE, Jun 17): Windsprint meet had Italian Simone Collio winning the 100 m
(10.34, +0.1), Irish Steven Colvert the 200 m (20.59, +1.5), US Fred Townsend
high hurdles 13.39 (+1.1) PB over Philip Nossmy 13.56 and Norway´s Vladimir
Vukicevic 13.77 PB. In women sprints Briton Hayley Jones 11.42 (+1.0) PB and
23.22 (+2.2).
