Jenn Suhr added an Olympic gold medal to the Olympic silver medal that she already possessed, in winning the 2012 London Olympic pole vault. In recognition of the support she has received in her Western New York environs, Suhr will share her Olympic experience in a pole vault tour in her local area in NY.

Jenn Suhr is the American record holder, indoors and outdoors, and the first American women to break the sixteen feet barrier in the vault as well. Coached by her husband, Rick Suhr, Jenn was originally a college basketball player. And the rest is, well, history…

Suhr to Share Olympic Experience with Western New York

Jenn Suhr Gold Medal Tour to Include Three Pole Vault Competitions

Boston, MA (September 13, 2012) – Jenn Suhr is set to deliver on the promise to share her Olympic gold medal with everyone who encouraged and supported her on her journey, her management team announced today as it outlined competition dates for a Jenn Suhr Gold Medal Tour of Western New York. The tour will include at least eight local appearances, three of which will include actual pole vault competitions.

The American Record-holder and a 12-time US Champion, Suhr was born and raised in Fredonia and now lives in Churchville, NY. She won gold in dramatic fashion in London last month, defeating Yarisley Silva from Cuba and 2008 Olympic Champion Yelena Isinbayeva, the only woman in history who has jumped higher than Suhr.

“I received so much support and encouragement from the region that I want to share, celebrate and educate people about my journey toward gold,” said Suhr. “The Olympics are so much more than a simple sports competition. Who knows? Maybe I can help inspire a young local girl to lead the next generation of Pole Vault Champions.”

“I want these vault competitions to be the most fun and unique street vaults in the country,” said Suhr. “So bring the family and enjoy our own little Olympics right here in Western New York.”

Vault competitions are scheduled as follows:

September 22nd – Jenn Suhr Gold Medal Celebration, Fredonia, NY – 5pm  Barker Commons  No tickets needed – Bring a lawn chair

September 28th – Roberts Wesleyan College Homecoming Weekend, Rochester, NY – 8pm  Complimentary tickets available for up to 2,000 spectators at select Wegmans locations  Fireworks to follow competition

September 30th – Buffalo Bills Sunday Pre-Game – 10:30am  Competition to be held inside Buffalo Bills Fieldhouse during Gameday Experience  Open to the public

Visit Jenn Suhr’s facebook fan page www.facebook.com/jenn.suhr for updates on the tour as details are finalized.
