I’m still in the process of completing this week’s issue, but, since Hurricane Sandy has already led to some power outages in the NY City area (I live in Queens), I’m sending out this preliminary version in case I lose power before I’m done. 

I plan to ride out the storm in the safety of my apartment building, but some people in low-lying areas could be in for some very hard times in the coming days.

Coby Horowitz of Bowdoin earned the men’s individual title with a time of 24:26.78, edging Tufts’ Matt Rand in the final stretch to win by a half-second. He is the first Polar Bear to win the event since Stephen Allison in 2000.
