Walt Murphy has published XCountry XPress for longer than some of you have been on this planet. We re publish his reports, to share the world his fantastic and unique information. We heartily suggest that you continue to support or buy subs now to XCountry XPress. He puts a lot of work into this, and while RN pays for use, having a paper copy makes total sense. Just like our sport’s performances take work, so does the media that makes the sport so inviting. Give up two six packs of that imported German beer you drink and a sprout filled burrito, and buy a sub to X-Country X-Press. You can do that at WMurphy25@aol.com.

Senior Maria Hauger(Shakopee) won her 4th straight Girls AA title and set a course record of 13:42 for the 4k layout.
Hauger, who is hoping to earn a trip to the Nike Cross Nationals this weekend, became the first four-time individual Minnesota cross country champion since Carrie Tollefson of Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle Valley won five in a row from 1990-94.
“I really can’t put it into words,” she said. “This is amazing. I never would have thought I could do this.”‘
Frosh twins Bethany and Megan Hasz finished 3rd and 6th, respectively, in the 4A race.
Led by the individual win of senior Wayde Hall, Stillwater won its 2nd straight Boys AA team title.

As the coach of the defending Nike Cross Nationals champions, Christian Brothers Academy’s Tom Heath wanted his top runners to be fresh for this year’s Nike Northeast Regional, which would take place only 3 days after the Meet of Champions.
So Heath sat out his top 5 boys and their replacements stepped up to the challenge by beating Holmdel, 110-133, giving CBA its 3rd straight State title (18th overall).
CBA’s first scorer was only 25th, possibly the lowest placing ever by a #1-runner for a state championships team.

The boys races featured two of the top preps in the country, with 4A champion Andrew Gardner and 3A champ Joe Hardy sitting in the #5 and #16 positions, respectively, in Milesplit’s latest National Rankings. Gardner was 6th at last year’s Foot Locker Championships. Hardy ran a 4:)9.29 mile this past spring.
The girls races also had national stars on view. 3A champion Amy-Eloise Neale, 5th at last year’s Nike Cross Nationals, is ranked #2 in the U.S. by Milsplit. It was the 3rd State title for Neale, who also won as a freshman and a sophomore. She will stay in-state next fall when she starts her collegiate career at the University of Washington.
Neal finished 2nd to Katie Knight at last year’s State meet, but the order was reversed this year. Knight was 2nd at the 2011 NXN and is ranked #10 by Milesplit, 3 slots below sophomore Alexa Efraimson, the 4A Champion.
