Nike LunarGlide 6 Named Best Motion Stabilizing Shoe in Running Network, LLC 2014 Fall Shoe Review

SAN JOSE – Top honors in the Motion Stabilizing category of the Running Network 2014 Fall Shoe Review went to the Nike LunarGlide 6.

“The Running Network shoe reviews have, since 1998, provided the consumer with a great series of options for finding the shoe that best fits their needs. From the tiniest of brands to the global leaders, Cregg Weinmann works hard to find you a shoe that makes sense for your feet,” noted Larry Eder, publishing director of Fortius Media Group, LLC.

Wear testers are matched to shoes based on footstrike, foot shape, and motion. They run 100 miles in the shoes and report on seven key performance characteristics throughout the process. Tester data is calculated by a software system, revealing a winner in each category. The software system was developed by Cregg Weinmann, Fortius Media Group’s footwear reviewer.

“For the Fall Review, testers piled on hundreds of marathon training miles to put the shoes through their paces. This rigorous testing provides the critical feedback that validates the strengths of shoes from the various brands. The small differences between shoes are carefully compared within a matrix of features, price, and performance to determine the category winners,” said Weinmann. “Runners need to recognize that the general categorization of the shoes is only a starting point for them, and their needs should be their top consideration. The parity between brands has never been as close as it is now, meaning it’s more important than ever to find the shoes that fit and function best for you.”

“The longest-running of the Lunar shoes, the LunarGlide evolves from top to bottom with Round 6. Taking major strides in design and upgrades, this shoe leapfrogs its Lunar brethren. The gusseted lining in the upper smooths the interior, while sandwiching Flywire and suede cutouts between the lining and exterior mesh, allowing for variability in the shoe’s lacing. A TPU clip supports the heel as a modified counter with a soft, quilted fabric that conforms to the heel. The three-piece midsole does a solid job in cushioning and support and conforms to the foot as it cycles from touchdown to toe-off. The outersole is made of a segmented, horseshoe-shaped, carbon rubber element in the heel. As the foot moves through the gait, the forefoot flexes and grips with irregularly shaped rubber circuits. Combining stability, great cushioning, and light weight, the LunarGlide 6 earned the award for Best Motion Stabilizing Shoe” (to quote Cregg Weinmann in the Fall 2014 RN Shoe Review).

“They snug up nicely and hold my feet in place very well. [They] max out the cushiness without feeling too mushy. Nicely protective. They’re wearing quite well on the roads. It’s been a really solid shoe,” said one wear tester, describing the Nike LunarGlide 6.
