Tirunesh for Madrid San Silvestre
MADRID (ESP): Chicago Marathon winner Tirunesh Dibaba will compete in the San Silvestre Vallecana 10K in Madrid on 31 December. Dibaba, who won this race in 2011 in 31:30, will face Ethiopian teammate Gelete Burka, Portugal’s Catarina Ribeiro and UK’s Alyson Dixon. Eritrea’s Nguse Amsolom will defend his title in the men’s race.
RunBlogRun opines: Tirunesh Dibaba is one of the finest athletes in our sport. Her tenure on the track, in Olympics and World Champs, is, well, unrivaled. Tirunesh has run three marathons, and she looks poised for another fast and furious one in 2018. Her run in Madrid, one of my favorite cities, should be spectacular on New Years Eve!
