 Our topics today:

1. #LearningtoFly is a wonderful documentary film on the culture of ultrarunning and can be found on #PRIME. Use our link and get 30 free days on Prime!

Learning to Fly, opens at PRIME on September 24, 2026!

2. The 50th Run through Five Boroughs was a great success, with 60,229 starters.

3. Andreas Almgren won the NYCM in his first marathon in 2:06:01. This guy may be the most versatile ever, having competed in European Champs in 4x400m and PBs from 800m to 10,000m that are world-class!

4. Andreas Almgren, Yemane Crippa, and Benson Kipruto kept the race very exciting!

5. Sheila Chepkirui won in 2024, took third in 2025, and won again in 2026, the first two-time winner since Mary Keitany, in the same shoe brand (adidas). Congrats to Sheila Chepkirui, Jess McClain, and Hellen Obiri for the closest race ever for women, seven seconds for the top three!

6. New Balance is official footwear and apparel of the NYCM and London Marathons, as the marathons give NB even more global stature in the sport for the $9 billion a year in sales company.

7. Fred Lebow and Alan Steinfeld, George Hirsch, the Rudin Family, Charlie McCabe and Barbara Paddock, Manny Hanny. Give them your respect! They are why you have a Five Boroughs Race.

8. More thoughts on the race: Jess McClain and Zouhair Talbi lead American finishers!

9. Connor Mantz should not be sad. His American record of 2:04:43, the AR, was set last year at Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Connor has had an Odysseian journey to recover from injuries and put this race together on less than ideal training, taking 11th in 2:07.27 as 4th American male (6th. Zouhair Talbi, US, 2:06.43, 7th, Ahmed Muhumed, US, 2:07:08, 10. Ryan Ford, US, 2:07:17).

12. Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, aka RAK Half, is one of the fastest half marathons in the world. Register at RAKHalfmarathon.com for the race, to be held on January 30, 2027.
