ROME (ITA): On the road to the Boston Marathon, Chicago Marathon winner Galen Rupp will compete in the Rome-Ostia Half Marathon where he could challenge the sub-one hour mark in good conditions. The American record stands to Ryan Hall at 59:43 but the course between Rome-Ostia is point-to-point and thus not record-eligible. The elite field includes two sub-one hour performers: Kenya’s Justus Kangogo (59:31 PB) and Ethiopia’s Dino Sefir (59:42 PB). Favourites in the women’s race are Kenya’s Rebecca Chesire (68:21 PB), Ethiopians Amane Beriso (68:43), Koren Jelela (70:52 PB) and Haftamenesh Tesfay (74:29 PB) who clocked 2:20:13 PB in the Dubai Marathon in January.
