Anthony and Bromell beat Lyles, surprise in the 1500 m


STATEN ISLAND (USA, Mar 1): Noah Lyles did not qualify for World Indoors as he finished third in 6.51 and was beaten by Jordan Anthony 6.45 and Trayvon Bromell 6.47 in men 60 m during 2nd day of US Indoors. In women 60m Jacious Sears 7.04 over U20 Mia Maxwell 7.13 PB and HS record and her twin sister Mariah Maxwell 7.14 PB. WR breaker Khaleb McRae won the 400 m in 45.01 followed by hurdler Chris Robinson 45.36.

Women 400 m was slower with Rosey Effiong 51.53 ahead of Paris Peoples 51.65, but in first race Bailey Lear 51.60. Nathan Green 3:37.65 PB and Luke Houser 3:37.67 with Vincent Ciattei 3:37.73 in the 1500 m. Favourites were beaten, Yared Nuguse fourth 3:38.06 and Cole Hocker fifth 3:38.08. Young talent Cooper Lutkenhaus fulfilled his role and won the 800 m in 1:46.68, in second place Sean Dolan 1:47.16 (missing qualifying time) as third Isiah Harris 1:47.22 has the time.

Addison Wiley improved her indoor PB to 1:59.43 to win women 800 m followed by Valery Tobias 1:59.77. Nikki Hiltz won women 1500 m 4:11.34 ahead of Gracie Morris 4:11.39. In long jump Steffin McCarter 810 (he is close to Worlds qualification) and Jeremiah Davis 808, only 6th Cordell Tinch 781 with Worlds qualifier. In shot put Roger Steen 21.81 over WC holder Jordan Geist 21.72, next with qualification is Joe Kovacs who was only 5th 20.18. Jasmine Moore won triple 13.89 and Chloe Timberg pole vault 470. In men high jump Elijah Kosiba 224 what does not bring World Indoor qualification.
