LIMA (PER): Track athletics starts on Tuesday in Lima at PanAm Games, the temperatures below 20 degrees, as there is winter time in the country. But still top results could be expected. In total 47 olympic and world medalists are entered (24 men and 23 women). In sprints Mike Rodgers with Cravon Gillespie will compete against Paulo Andre, in the 200 m Steven Gardiner with Jereem Richards, in the 400 m Machel Cedenio vs Bralon Taplin, Kyron McMaster is the 400 m hurdles favorite, in the 110 m hurdles Gabriel Constantino and Ronald Levy, Donavan Brazier is the top 800 name. Middle and long distances are wide open. Michael Mason and Donald Thomas should fight in high jump, Chris Nielsen with Brazilians Thiago Braz and Augusto Dutra in pole vault, Juan Miguel Echevarria is the long jump number one with Tajay Gayle, in triple Omar Craddock, shot put has Darlan Romani, discus Fedrick Dacres, hammer Sean Donnelly and javelin Anderson Peters with Keshorn Walcott. Canadian Damian Warner is the decathlon star. Both relays could bring fast times.
