The NN Running team has made its presence known for some time in road racing. With 68 athletes in Doha, from the 100m to the marathon, NN Running team is a player in athletics now. Check out the athletes who could be seen on the podium in their events!

NN Running team’s Jos Hermans is hoping for 15 medals, and he is not hallucinating from too many hour runs (he held the WR in 1976 in the hour run). The NN Running team, the dream of Jos Hermans, puts a financial group with global power Nike as sponsors of this fine group.

2019 IAAF World Championships to start in Doha

Friday September 27th, 2019 marks the start of the 2019 IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar. Over a period of 10 days the world’s best athletes will go up against each other in hopes of taking home the gold medal for their respective countries.

Global Sports Communication will be representing 68 athletes from 18 different countries while also representing Team China under a longstanding partnership. For the duration of the World Championships we will be providing updates, race results and behind the scenes footage via our Social Media channels.

Jos Hermens, Director: ‘I am very excited for the upcoming World Championships as they always produce so many great moments. We are a strong team, the athletes are in good shape and we are prepared for any conditions in Doha. We have a very diverse team of athletes but it makes me proud to see that we have favorites in a very broad range of disciplines. Whether it’s on the 1500m, in Triple Jump, on the marathon or in Shotput, we have chances across the board. It is always hard to make predictions but I hope we win 5 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals, that would be a good score for us. I am very proud of this group of athletes, I know how hard they all worked to get here!”

Here is a selection of some of the highlights for GSC athletes:

MENS EVENTS

100m | Final: 28/09

Chinese juggernaut SU Bingtian can never be ruled out for a medal on the world stage. With a PB of 9.91 he can upset the greatest of sprinters on any given day.

110mH | Final: 02/10

Olympic Silver medalist Orlando Ortega (ESP) is in exceptional form all season and a classified favorite after winning the Diamond League finals in Brussels earlier this month.

10,000m | Final: 06/10

Diamond League winner Joshua Cheptegei (UGA) & Ethiopia’s super talent Yomif Kejelcha have risen to the front of the 10,000m and are in for a great race. Cheptegei took home the silver during the 2017 World Championships 10,000m while Kejelcha finished 4th. Both men will be aiming to improve on their results.

Marathon: 05/10

Reigning world champion and 2017 Boston Marathon winner Geoffrey Kirui (KEN) is back to defend his title. Mule Wasihun (ETH) will run his first marathon since running the 4th fastest marathon in history after clocking 2:03:16 at the London marathon this spring.

Reigning world champion, Faith Kipyegon (KEN) has returned from maternity leave and is listed among the favorites for the win. Sifan Hassan (NED) is still to make a decision on whether to run the 1500m but she’ll be a medal candidate when she does.

3000mSC | Final: 30/09
World record holder Beatrice Chepkoech and Hyvin Kiyeng will be spearheading Team Kenya in pursuit of bringing the Steeple Chase title back to Africa. This race is guaranteed of fireworks.

5000m & 10,000m | Finals: 05/10 & 28/09
All-round super talent Sifan Hassan (NED) will start her championships on Saturday with the 10,000m final. After this race she will decide whether to race the 1500m or 5000m. In both races she is amongst the favorites to win.

Shotput | Final: 03/10
GONG Lijiao has not slowed down since winning the 2017 world championship. Having won the Diamond League series again earlier this month, she heads into Doha as the outspoken favorite.

Triple Jump | Final: 05/10
