WUHAN (CHN, Oct 24): Wang Jianan won the long jump title at the World Military Games with 8.15m, leading a Chinese one-two ahead of Huang Changzhou with 8.12m. Feng Bin took a home victory in the discus with a good quality 64.83m ahead of Brazil’s Fernanda Martins (61.60m), India’s Shivpal Singh won the javelin title with 83.33m and Poland’s Pawel Wojciechowski cleared 5.60m to win the pole vault. Aminat Jamal won another gold for Bahrain in the 400m hurdles in 55.12 ahead of Ukraine’s Anna Ryzhykova (55.23) and Russia’s Vera Rudakova (55.66), Iran’s Mahdi Pirjahan won a closely contested men’s 400m hurdles in 49.61 from Algeria’s Abdelmalik Lahoulou (49.68) and Poland’s Patryk Dobek (49.69) while Brazil’s Aldemir Junior (20.31) and Slovenia’s Maja Mihalinec (23.15) swept the 200m titles. Elsewhere, world marathon bronze medallist Helalia Johannes set a big Namibian record of 15:14.23 to win the 5000m ahead of Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi (15:15.93) and Kenya’s Ben Kigen won the 3000m steeplechase in 8:24.50. Brazil won both 4x100m titles in 38.68 and 43.29 respectively.
