Ethiopian Campaccio wins
SAN GIORGI SU LEGNANO (ITA, Jan 6): Ethiopia’s Fotyen Tesfay won the senior women’s 6km at the Campaccio Cross Country (WA CC Permit) in 19:27 just ahead of Kenyans Margaret Kipkemboi (19:27) and Gloria Kite (19:29) with Ethiopia’s world U20 silver medallist Alemitu Tariku fourth in 19:37. Two-time European U20 cross country champion Nadia Battocletti was the leading home finisher in sixth in 19:58. There was an Ethiopian one-two in the men’s 10km with Mogos Tuemay (29:01) and world 3000m steeplechase silver medallist Lamecha Girma (29:11) first and second with Kenya’s Robert Keter third (29:13). Yemaneberhan Crippa was the leading Italian and European finisher in fourth (29:18), one position ahead of Turkey’s Aras Kaya (29:33). European cross country champion Robel Fsiha from Sweden was seventh in 29:37.
