Petr Svoboda took a beating after attempting to stop a robbery. He will be resting for a week, due to his injuries… We wish him a quick return to health.

Brave Svoboda

PRAHA (CZE): Former European indoor champion at 60 m hurdles and Czech record holder Petr Svoboda was again in hospital, but this time it was not an injury from athletics. Three stitches on the head, bruises, swollen ankles. That is the result of his courage against thieves in a store. On Wednesday afternoon, in front of the hardware store, he saw a young man stealing exhibits. When the hurdler called on him to return his loot, the thief was joined by his friend with a bottle of beer in his hand and a girl with a fighting dog, and Svoboda found himself under a whirlwind of wounds. He reported all to the police and the thieves were known persons for them. The brave man also confirmed: “I would do it again.” But now needs to rest for a week and will miss Saturday´s meet in Olomouc.
