BELGRADE (SRB, Feb 24): World record holder Armand Duplantis was back in top shape at Serbian Open indoor meet (WIT Bronze). After short break due to an injury he cleared 600 and 610 WL in first attempt. And tried twice at World record height of 619. The 610 is his fourth best result of the career. Behind him Piotr Lisek and Thiago Braz with 570 followed by Ersu Sasma from Turkey and Croatian Ivan Horvat with 560. Home organisers in the athletics hall (not the site of World Indoors 2022 of course) celebrated not only the win of biggest Serbian star Ivana Spanovic 671 in the long jump but also national indoor record 21.25 by shot putter Armin Sinancevic. Behind him Bosnian Mesud Pezer 20.78 and Asmir Kolasinac 20.52. British high jumper Morgan Lake cleared 196 to win, standards for Tokyo and Torun. Albanian 2017 European indoor long jump champion Izmir Smajlaj beat home Lazar Anic on 2nd best attempt, as the best was 791 for both (785 to 784). Romanian wins for Robert Parge (47.39) and Andrea Miklos (52.54) in the 400 m and Anamaria Nesteriuc 8.19 hurdles (second Serbian Anja Lukic 8.21 PB). Swiss Salome Kora won women 60 m 7.30 and Italian Massimiliano Ferrari men´s final in 6.74 as pre-race favorite Richard Kilty injured his hamstring in warm-up. Bulgarian steeple specialist Mitko Tsenov won the 1500 m in 3:44.32 PB.
