The world of athletics is coming to Eugene in July 15-24, 2022. 2000 athletes from over 200 countries will get to visit Lane County. The LOC is Oregon 22, LLC, and they know that each decision that they make will be micro-reviewed.

The LOC named Trace Skopil as CFO of Oregon22. The LOC is making statements with their hirings that show their commitment to Oregon, Lane County, and the legacy of Hayward Field.

EUGENE, Ore. — The local organizing committee (LOC) for the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 is pleased to announce the addition of Trace Skopil to its executive team in the role of Chief Financial Officer.

Skopil brings with him 40 years of experience working in finance and accounting. He spent the majority of that time with the Eugene, Oregon office of Moss Adams, LLP, the 11th largest CPA firm in the United States. He closed his career at Moss Adams in the positions of Partner in Charge and Audit Partner. Skopil was born and raised in Eugene and is a graduate of the University of Oregon.

“I’m thrilled to be joining a dynamic team that is passionate about leveraging this event to showcase Oregon and to help grow the sport of track and field,” said Skopil.

The WCH Oregon22 has one powerful ambition: to be the Best of all Worlds. Skopil rounds out a powerhouse executive team composed of industry leaders whose combined skillsets will guide a team driven to achieve that goal.

“We are excited to welcome Trace to our organization,” said Sarah Massey, Chief Executive Officer of Oregon22, LLC. “He is a perfect example of our intent to build a high-performing team that upholds the values of Oregon22 and conducts its actions through robust business practices, optimizing resources at every opportunity.”

The hiring of Skopil is a reflection of the LOC’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, a central pillar in the plan to deliver the event. As the event draws closer (set to take place July 15-24, 2022), the team will continue to grow quickly, providing employment opportunities to people across the region to be involved in this global event being held in the U.S. for the very first time.

“This event is about bringing the world to Oregon, but it is also about bringing Oregon to the world,” said Massey. “What better way to do that than to infuse our team with talent and expertise from the people who are a part of the fabric of the local community?”

After a year’s delay due to the effects of the global pandemic, the prospect of an unmissable event that will drive economic growth and create job opportunities in the local community is a welcome one indeed.
