Jacobs opens with 10.04, Lafond 14.53 WL
SAVONA (ITA, May 18): Olympic winner Marcell Jacobs after not being able to open the summer season in Nairobi started with a win at the WACT Challenger meet in Italy. He first clocked windy 9.99 (+2.3) in the heat and then 10.04 (+0.3) win in the final. Second Ivory Coast´s Arthur Cisse 10.10 (legal 10.09 in heats) and third former European record holder Jimmy Vicaut 10.12. In the women’s triple jump World lead for Thea Lafond from Dominica was 14.53 (+0.7) beating Ana Jose Tima from the Dominican Republic 14.46 (+0.9). High quality 200 m national record for the Dominican Republic by Olympic medalist Marileidy Paulino 22.59 (+2.0) ahead of Daryll Neita 22.81 PBeq (clocked 11.12 in 100 m heats and did not run the final) and Dalia Kaddari 22.83. In the 100 m, Zayanb Dosso won in 11.21 (+0.9) after she improved her PB to 11.19 (+1.0) in heats over Swiss Geraldine Frey at 11.31 (11.29 PB in heats). In women’s 400 m Fiordaliza Cofil from the Dominican Republic 51.36, also fast 400 m hurdles by Ayomide Folorunso 55.29 over Olympic finalist Anna Ryzhykova 55.61. Men´s 400 m hurdles had fast Italians, Mario Lambrughi 49.03 and Jose Reynaldo Bencosme 49.29. Brazilian Rafael Pereira won the men’s 110 m hurdles in 13.36 (+1.6) and Finland´s Reeta Hurske women hurdles in 12.94 (+0.7). In the 800 m, Ukrainian Olha Lyakhova 2:01.58 just edging Anita Horvat who clocked a big PB 2:01.60. Shot put had Nick Ponzio 21.12 over Zane Weir 21.05. French win in 200 m for Amaury Golitin 20.73 (+1.3) and in the 400 m Italian Brayan Lopez 46.03 PB.
