RunBlogRun presents

Socialing The Distance with Larry Eder

Featuring Keira D’Amato,

American Record Holder for Marathon

US Champion, 20k (Faxon Law New Haven 20k/USA 20k Champs)

Original post, February 11, 2022

Updated September 10, 2022

Keira D’Amato is one of the most positive people that I have ever met. Her story is fantastic, and her love of the sport is infectious. Her Instagram is hysterical. I particularly loved watching her husband run a 60-second 400 meters post ice cream.  Keira just finished 8th at the World Champs, where the USA threesome of Sara Hall, Emma Bates, and Keira D’Amato went 5,7,8 in the World Champs Marathon, the best scoring by a US women’s team ever!

On Labor day, Keira D’Amato and Emily Sisson battled at the Faxon Law Group USA 20k Champs, which was part of the iconic New Haven 20k. They both broke the championship record, with Keira’s 64:29 to Emily Sisson’s 64:36.

Kiera D’Amato will be racing the BMW Berlin Marathon on 25 September 2022. RunBlogRun will be covering this amazing race from Berlin as well as remotely! Good luck, Kiera!

Enjoy our interview with Kiera D’Amato from February 2022!

The story of Keira D’Amato is wonderfully uplifting. Taking nine years off from running, Keira developed a wonderful life with her husband, children, and the real estate profession. The American University graduate still had things she wanted to do in running. In 2017, she ran a marathon at 3:49 in Alaska. Her next was 3:17, and over the next several marathons, she developed into a promising marathoner. At the 2020 Marathon Project, Keira ran 2:22, a huge PB.

Her run at the Chevron Houston Marathon set a new AR, with a fine 2:19.12. Since then, the 37-year-old has been on TV shows, magazine covers and stories galore. We were lucky enough to get 40 minutes with her, and I have to admit, I came away inspired!

Just how fast can Keira D’Amato go? Keira herself thinks 2:18.

I would not disagree with her.

Special thanks to Ray Flynn & Flynn Sports Management for setting up this interview.
