This is Week 8, Day 2 of the Winter Training Block.

Today is Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

Our workout today comes from Sweden, it is speed play, or Fartlek in Swedish. Gosta Holmer, 1912/1920 Olympian and Sweden’s National coach formulated Fartlek to use repetitions on Sweden’s trails to build up the confidence of Swedish cross country runners in the 1930s.

Today is a combination workout.

Today’s workout: warm up slowly, 30 minutes, Holmer fartlek, go out moderate 20 minutes, come back hard in 15 minutes, then, 10 times one minute hard, one minute easy, then, five minutes hard, five minutes easy, then, cooldown slowly.
